Newcastle: Must Buy Star Back on Radar – report
Newcastle’s board have given Alan Pardew the go ahead to put in a fresh transfer offer for Loic Remy. The Magpies have flirted with the possibility of bringing in the clinical forward all summer but have now finally decided that he is the man they want to bring in to lead their attack.
The Chronicle reports that the North East club have made an enquiry to Queens Park Rangers about availability of Remy and are prepared to make a big money offer in order to secure his services.
The striker has been linked with a move away from QPR all summer. There has been reported interest from Tottenham over the past month while a transfer to Arsenal has been discussed regularly over the last few transfer windows.
The experienced 27-year-old came close to joining Liverpool in a £8.5 million deal before the transfer collapsed for unknown reasons, though speculation pointed to a failed medical. One thing is clear though; Remy sees his future away from Queens Park Rangers and seems to favour a move to another Premier League club.
Remy was Newcastle’s top scorer last season with fourteen league goals in 26 appearances in a season-long loan deal. He has shown that he has the ability to hit the back of the net in The Premier League and would need little time to settle back into a squad that he is already familiar with, a big boost for Pardew.
However, the Tyneside club could enter a battle with Arsenal to land the player. Following a long-term injury to Olivier Giroud Arsene Wenger will have to look to bring in another forward during the last few days of the window. Remy is an attractive prospect to The Gunners thanks to his low release clause for Champions league clubs and the fact he has Premier League experience.
