Newcastle are preparing to launch a new attempt to secure the signature of Loic Remy. The striker is almost certainly going to leave QPR this summer, and the North East club are trying their best to bring him to St. James Park reports The Chronicle.

Interest in Remy is high however, with Arsenal reportedly closing in on a potential deal. Newcastle will be hoping that the experience Remy has had playing for the club might sway him choose them over their London rivals.

Remy has played for a number of clubs in his career. Signing for Lyon in 1999 as a youth player he eventually rose through the ranks into the senior squad, though his opportunities to play in the first team were limited. After playing just 15 games for Lyon he was loaned to fellow French side Lens before making a permanent move to Nice in a €8 million transfer deal.

In 2010, he joined another French side, Marseille, where he went on to score 39 goals in 95 games in all competitions. Three years later, Newcastle agreed a fee with the Ligue 1 side to see the player move to Tyneside. However, the 27 year old instead chose to sign for relegation battlers Queens Park Rangers.

After failing to stay in The Premier League, QPR made arrangements to loan out the striker to Newcastle for the 2013/14 season. He went on to play an important role in The Magpies’ side, finding the net 14 times in the league in only 26 appearances.

Remy’s career so far has seen him score 91 goals in all competitions at club level and achieve 24 full international caps for France. He was part of the French squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, though only made two appearances throughout the tournmament.

Let’s see his goals from last season. Newcastle fans: best possible signing?

He has already stated he wants champions league why on earth would he sign for a club where the owner has NO intention to get into European football competition?
