Manchester United reportedly after massive double deal

The Daily Mail this morning leads with an ‘exclusive’ about why the Manchester United boss David Moyes was in Italy at the weekend. His face adorned many of the backpages as his scouting trip to see Juventus became much more high-profile than he probably would have liked.

Various names were thrown about in relation to who he was there to see. The Daily Mail today suggests that Manchester United want to re-sign Paul Pogba and also take Arturo Vidal.

The Daily Mail says:

David Moyes has held talks with Juventus’s chief transfer negotiator after planning a bold double move for Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal.

The Manchester United manager met boardroom boss Beppe Marotta after Juventus’s game at Cagliari on Sunday and discussed the possibility of signing either, or both, of his top two targets.

The report says that Moyes’ trip was less successful then he’d hoped and that Juventus are not keen to let either Pogba or Vidal go in the winter window.

Figures of £40m were suggested by the report, in relation to Pogba, who Manchester United let go a couple of years back for a nominal fee.

Manchester United may feel that they have some extra bargaining strength in any potential deal as Juventus have regularly been linked in the past with the move from Manchester United’s peripheral winger Nani.

We shall bring you more on this story throughout the day as more information makes itself known. It does appear however that, despite Moyes keeping his cards close to his chest regarding winter transfers, he is working overtime to remodel his midfield this January.
