Manchester United’s entire summer shopping list revealed – report

You begin to run out of things to say when it gets this bad. I was talking to a Manchester United fan yesterday about how expectations have plummeted beyond belief in such a short space of time. One year ago it would have been difficult enough for Manchester United fans to envisage a trophyless season. The idea of not finishing top four was unimaginable.

But such is the fall from grace that Liverpool look miles batter than Manchester United right now. An 11 point gap would be difficult enough for Manchester United to bridge under Sir Alex. But under Moyes the performance levels have been so bad that you would be surprised if they managed to win the game against their old rivals at Old Trafford in March. Make no mistake Manchester United are in crisis. They are there for the taking. Just ask Fulham, Sunderland, West Brom and Olympiakos.

David Moyes clearly wants to bring in a raft of new players. But he is getting so little out of his current crop that you have to wonder whether he should be allowed to deplete the financial reserves of Manchester United further. Let’s not forget he’s already spent £65m – did Fergie ever spend that, net, in one season?

The Telegraph, who clearly have top level Manchester United sources appear to lay open Manchester United’s transfer plans for the summer. The shopping list includes some of the best players in the world. But are players alone the problem? We think not. The Telegraph today states:

Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala, Borussia Dortmund’s holding midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos and Southampton full-back Luke Shaw are the priority targets, with Paris St-Germain forward Edinson Cavani and Atlético Madrid’s Diego Costa also being watched.

United fear that Kroos will negotiate a new contract at Bayern, while Chelsea lead the chase for Shaw, who is also interesting Manchester City.

Should Shaw prove beyond United’s reach, Atlético’s Filipe Luis will become a fall-back option.

All top players who would make excellent additions to the team. But would they want to play for David Moyes? You could imagine a real personality like Mourinho or Klopp persuading these guys that a year outside The Champions League wouldn’t be so bad in the longer term.

But David Moyes doesn’t appear to be impressing anyone. RvP’s comments in the aftermath of the game spoke of top players who are utterly disenchanted by a manager who is out of his depth. Someone who lacks a strong and modern football vision.

  1. Deluded Dave Moyes Fan Club says:

Complete Madness to give this man any money at all…..Let’s take a look
Young is as good as Nani, who is as good as Fellaini, who is as good as Wellbeck on the left wing, who is as good as Smalling playing at right back, who is as good as Kagawa on the wing.who is as good as Cleverley playing anywhere…..but are all better than Lingard,Rafael,Zaha and Januzai according to Moyes the Magnificent…….Well he did buy Darren Gibson from us…………

‘Old Trafford’…..as it is now known the ‘Theatre of Nightmares’…….A complete Madhouse where tactics, substitutions, player acquisitions, style of play, and the retention of a complete doughbag of a manager,is nothing less than MADNESS…..OLD TRAFFORD once THE THEATRE OF DREAMS…….NOW AN ASYLUM for THE INSANE….

  2. I blame Alex for nominating Moyes and Moyes for bringing in his Motley crew from Everton.God knows how long it’s going to take to get rid of Moyes & Co.

  3. Micheal says:

A stitch in nine saves time ….we are united the for this officials is to get rid of this moyes .manchester united is a top club we can’t our watch our match anymore to avoid nightmare GET RID OF MOYES to save our season

  4. Imy says:

I dream Sir Alex could come in ASAP until the end of the season. If he prefers to fully retire once again then i hope he makes the right choice “this time” to replace himself – personally i wish Sir Alex nominates Mr Klopp. The Dortmand manager has done a fantastic job at Dortmand, with a group off very talented young player’s and are playing great attacking football to watch!

  5. charles simango says:

I don’t ve hope in moyes’ poor tacticts.I wud be to recruite klopp or simeone Shame for giving us moyes

  6. arthur santu says:

Moyes is not high level performance material. He lacks the influence and capacity to drive top class prayer just like he is falling to attract high class prayers in the transfer window. Let’s not worst time by comforting our selves, he is simply not manu material

  7. Hairdryer says:

it’s clear we are stuck with moyes for this season at least nothing will stop him leaving , he will never leave of his own will and he will never get sacked , we should hold the United owners and directors responsible… In fact us the fans are the owners indirectly, we should start a proper petition but who would replace him, I would say start again, bring in an experienced man such as Louis Van Gaal with Red Nev under him… we would see instant team performances , a great strategic and tactical awareness , intelligence, and excellent man management. Moyes has a big learning curve, which he should have learnt by now, some of his team choices are the worst I have ever seen – picking terribly out of form players, playing so negatively and uninspiringly, i cannot bear to watch a match with Young playing anymore, our defence is shot, the guy never plays kagawa even when Mata is cup tied, bringing on Weleck against Stoke and moving rooney into midfield, when fletcher was on the bench… This guy is less capable than a primary school team manager with some of the decisions being made. I would not be surprised to see many of our top players to leave after this World Cup is done… every one of our players step up their game internationally (RVP scores for fun, Kagawa creates) we were a team, now we are a bunch of individual players too scared to attack

  8. Uti Effiong says:

Klopp transformed an average Dortmond players into world class team. Conte did same at Juventus. Simeone at Athletico Madrid. All these guys achieved this fit with limited financial backing. What did Moyes have to show after 12yrs @ Everton?…. And now he has turned a bunch of champions into a mediocre team that cant even compete in d local front. Get rid of dis guy b4 we start fighting relegation battle come next season.

  9. markinsman says:

dont blame moyes instead d idiot who gav him d job(saf).hw on earth cn a man in saf calibre trade a great club lik man u in2 d hands of an amature?deres is no nid giving him money,he still will nt use it well.jst fire him,no mata wot it will cost us nd get a coach with a gud pedigree.

  10. Sdom says:

Our board of directors will not sack moyes, do u know y, b\c moyes is better than them, i tell u this present directors are fools 4 accepting moyes, a man with no record, no qualification 2 make him a manager of dis great club, just b\c sir choose him then that makes him qualify, bringing in sentiments in business, i am a football fan but i can tell u d truth, if nothing is done 2 dis man u they will struggle 4 17th next season believe it or not. But if i should have another say on dis, let say moyes is very good, and our players don’t want 2 play 4 him, do we sell all of dis guys dat have given us all dis record with sir frag, or just change dis 1 man.

  11. philomen says:

I cant understand moyes tactics. Nani is a good player in the wings who can create and score goals, but Valencia is lazy n poor in marking. I guess united should bring in some young and raw talents such as William carvalho of Portugal and Luke Shaw. Everyone is talking about the attacking prospects of united but they are vulnerable at the back. A total reinforcement is required in defence as vidic cleared he ll leave the club, evra is uncertain about his future, Ferdinand is aging. We need a solid right back who can burst forward in times and a holding midfielder and everything is okay with united. Just give some play time for kagawa n chicharito.

  12. me says:

most pple here r blaming moyes wuld swear wen fergie made his debut nd twitter nd co wer available you wuld hav said fergie out .dis man utd squad is very poor nd cant compete as a top team apart frm rooney rvp mata nd prbbly janazaj which man utd playr will fit in the top teams of europe . moyes needs tym to refurnish dis messd up squad. must admit i laffd wen dis writer wrote sumfin bout moyes spendin 65mil alredy u crtainly dont knw wat ur writting wat do u expect cant u see how money changd mcity psg nd how madrid spend u must be hater trying to make man utd luk dead shame on ANY MAN UTD FAN DATS SAYS THEATRE OF NIGHTMARES it jus shows how fake u r. look at arsenal nd liverpoool how many yrs with tropies nd ur here complnin SHAME ON U

    • zac lazari says:

What u seem to fail to recognize is that wen fergie took over we were in the bottom 3 and he got us up into 7th. Moyes has taken over the champions and has turned us into a mid table team. That’s the difference u complete dick. Our squad is not messed up its the useless prat Moyes who’s messed up by being a negative man with little or no bright ideas on how to play the game at all…..get ur facts right before u come on here and spout ur shit

  13. Patrick misoga says:

It’s past tme for moyes to transform utd bck to real man u of de past, the next thing is to sack him ,but I’l neva blame him for the downfall but I’l rather blame AF n infact neva to call him sir and the glazer family.shame on you!!

  14. Mohammad Rabi'u says:

The management should try and have the right people that can solve out the united problem

  15. ayo says:

Moyes isn’t gonna take us anywhere but land of no returns. He simply can’t give wot he doesn’t have so it’s left for man utd ceo to take a bold decision of replacing him with a competent/experienced coach in summer.

  16. marure says:

I blm owners nd fans who enter at old trafod why should thm stop to watch even a single game? by dng so fake man in the original team wll leave himself or by sacked but shame upon SAF & these hypocrites owner! there is a need to stop buying tickets even a single game
