Manchester United: This is LvG’s desired trio says broadsheet

An interesting article in The Independent highlights the news that Manchester United have installed CCTV cameras at Carrington so that Louis van Gaal can scrutinise his players like never before.

There is a suggestion that he had tapes sent to Brazil whilst he was working at The World Cup so that he could begin his homework on the Manchester United squad whilst concurrently masterminding Holland’s passage to the semi finals. What a guy! You gotta love Louis.

The news outlet also suggests that the cameras will be used, partly, to get close ups of the players’ faces during training in order to analyse which squad members are getting fatigued, and at what point, during training.

Furthermore, the article seemingly lifts the lid on Van Gaal’s preferred trio for the back line this season.

Having witnessed all three games in their entirety soccersweep would be amazed if LvG wasn’t impressed with Chris Smalling and Phil Jones, who have both been highly consistent in America. The other real find is Tyler Blackett who, despite a few errors, looks like a proper Manchester United player.

But The Independent once more floats the notion that Louis wants to import some experience into the back line.

Van Gaal, who admitted on Tuesday night that he was looking for more defenders, is desperate to sign a left-footed centre-back as he does not want three right-footed operators across the back three. That is why Arsenal captain Thomas Vermalen fits the bill. He is understood to covet a back-line, right to left, of Evans, Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels and Vermaelen.

We still believe that Jones and Smalling are the present and future of Manchester United. But, with 3 centre backs being employed at the club this season, it’s obvious that reinforcements are needed. We think that Vermaelen and Hummels would do just fine. Let’s see Vermaelen in action.
