New Dawn

Cast your mind back to the end of last season. The team had played poorly under David Moyes. The club had almost punched itself to a stand still. And Manchester United had dropped right down the pecking order. Many thought that this was the beginning of the end of the United empire.

Big investment was promised – but it had been for years and the team still looked stale.

If you had been told, at that point, that Manchester United would begin September with Luke Shaw, Angel di Maria and Radamel Falcao in the ranks, you would surely have bitten the hand off the predictor.

Yes, it’s been a poor start to the season but transfer promises have at last been kept and Manchester United have scared the life out of their hitherto gleeful rivals with some of the best signings that they will ever make.

Furthermore, despite early season debate, Manchester United have clearly snared one of the best coaches in the world. He’s not influenced by the whims of the media and certainly won’t buckle under pressure, as many believe that Moyes did.

In Van Gaal Manchester United have a visionary who, we have absolutely no doubt, will return this club to the top.

Some think that Manchester United’s transfer business was somewhat scattergun. But that’s one of the last words that we would use to describe the meticulous Van Gaal. When debating the more controversial decisions of the last great manager, United fans would eventually comfort themselves with the notion that ‘in Fergie we trust’. He was deserving of their faith and so too is Louis van Gaal.

Paid to make big decisions he has already done so with Danny Welbeck. Many are sad to see him leave but ask yourself this. Falcao or Welbeck? Arsenal fans would surely be similarly unanimous in their answer, given the choice.

Herrera, Shaw, Rojo, Di Maria, Blind and Falcao – all of them could start against QPR in what must be the most eagerly anticipated team sheet in years.

This is now Van Gaal’s Manchester United. And we think that they are ready to make history.

United fans: confident?
