What a player

It just keeps getting worse at Manchester United. Everytime you think that David Moyes’s team has scraped the bottom of the barrel they suffer another terrible indignity.

As we have said, taken in isolation, drawing at home to Fulham isn’t the end of the world. but when you add up the embarrassing results you have to start asking why action hasn’t yet been taken by the top brass at Manchester United.

We don’t want to simply jump on the anti-Moyes bandwagon for the sake of it. He strikes us as a genuinely good guy who you would want to be on the football scene. But it is becoming glaringly obvious, to us, that he just isn’t cut out for this level.

The overwhelming evidence points to far more than just a chaotic changing of the guard. Moyes doesn’t know how to get the best out of his excellent players. He and others can moan all they like about the weaknesses in the squad. But this Manchester United group is still one of the best squads in the league. Especially up top where Rooney, RvP, Mata and Januzaj are a match for anyone.

There are of course many theories as to why Manchester United are suffering so badly and many of them point to the players instead of Moyes.

But I think that we can all agree that one man who can’t be blamed for the problem is Wayne Rooney. Again, on Sunday, he was all over the pitch, defending, attacking and pinging balls around the park from the centre. Some blamed him for Sidwell escaping for the first goal but it was clearly Fletcher who should have tracked his man.

Courtesy of The Daily Mail we have Wayne Rooney’s heat map which showed that Rooney is doing everything possible to drag his team through games – short of putting on the goalie gloves he’s everywhere. What a player. Is there any team that he wouldn’t get into?
