Manchester United on the verge of completing the DREAM summer signing – deal virtually complete – report

Dream signing

Reports this afternoon from highly respected sources suggest that Luke Shaw looks set to join Manchester United this summer after David Moyes apparently laid the groundwork for his transfer.

A Chelsea fan as a boy it seemed as Stamford Bridge would be his preferred destination this summer.

But when Chelsea heard Manchester United were willing to pay a hundred thousand pounds per week in wages and £30m to sign the player they apparently pulled out of the running.

The Guardian says:

Manchester United are convinced a £30m deal to buy Luke Shaw on a £100,000 a-week salary is virtually complete in what is viewed as a major coup over Chelsea, with the sacked David Moyes largely responsible for convincing the 18-year-old Southampton left-back to spurn the club he supports.

It represents a fantastic coup for the club who are in the midst of absolute turmoil with the sacking of David Moyes.

Signing Luke Shaw all but guarantees Manchester United a world-class left back for the next decade.

He looks at the nailed down squad member for the World Cup and could even start despite the superb form of Leighton Baines this season.

Is a solid as they come in the defensive department but also I buccaneering wingback who can deliver a wonderful cross with his left foot. Is there a marvellous engine and already looks very composed for one so young. This appears to be an absolute no-brainer of a signing.

Manchester United fans is this the dream signing for the left back position? Thoughts please.

Not sure if he’s any better then the youngsters at the reserve team, I think he is overpriced and overrated. He makes more then giggs and he’s not even close to that level.

Virtually done? This same headline has been thrown in our faces for a month now, same situation as the Garay saga and he never signed. United obviously would sign Shaw IF they can, how ever I would believe addressing the midfield first is their priority

Bit early to tell if this guy is the real deal, not in the same class as Seamus Coleman at Everton if you ask me but he is young and could eventually match this price tag. Can United afford to be taking a risk on Luke Shaw with only one decent season under his belt?

You need to calm down mate. Getting all worked up in Superbole City.

There are far better players out there than this “DREAM” signing and with a major rehaul needed at Old Trafford this summer, if he does sign for United he’ll be some way down the list of names.

He’s a great young talent but £30m at £100k per week is mad – That really wouldn’t be a major coup!

and there’s no way he’ll get into the England team ahead of both Baines and Cole.

    Go back to sleep.

The guy is a great talent but he’s over hype. I bet you if the opportunity is given to our reserve team and build the confidence in Alexandre Buttner he will be great just like Evra.

£30mill seems very high; I have expected at least £20mill. As for the Dream Signing tag sorry but that would have to be two top quality midfielders to replace the inept, Carrick, Cleverley, Fletcher and Giggs. Kroos and Cavahlo would be my ‘dream signings’.

All you writers and wanna be writers need to learn from the lesson that SAF has learnt, the hard way. Get your story and more important your headlines correct or you will start to lose credibility ! If you over cook it, you will be a chef without a winning dish!
