Manchester United: Moyes DOES have 1 highly impressive stat this season

Pants pulled down – too many times

Based on the recent spate of good form enjoyed by Manchester United you would have to say that they are due a defeat.

Because it’s been such a one step forward and two steps back type of campaign that Manchester United could perhaps best be described as consistently inconsistent. You might say that they are highly consistent in their inconsistency.

Whichever way you look at it Manchester United need a win against Manchester City if they want to garner a more positive reputation once more. A third win on the spin against such a powerful team as Manchester City will set alarm bells snoozing. We might begin to talk about the crisis having ‘bottomed out’.

But they have to beat City first and that isn’t going to be easy considering the league form of the arch rivals.

At this point David Moyes might even be wishing that Manchester United were playing away. because in a season of unwanted records for the new boss, he does have one tick in the right column.

Despite their awful form for most of the year, Manchester United are actually the highest points scorers away from home at this stage of the season. 30 points from 16 games with 9 away wins and three draws. It would be title form if Manchester United had not been so wretched at Old Trafford where they’ve had their pants pulled down so many times that noone is even shocked to see what’s beneath anymore.

You might argue that this is a portent of brighter days ahead. But we have said that too many times this season to be caught out again. David Moyes and his team need top results from now until the end of the season to keep the wolf from the door.
