With Manchester United seemingly failing to sign a host of top players this summer you would imagine that Louis van Gaal will broaden the net to search for players with, as yet, unrealised potential.

And The Daily Star has today suggested that Manchester United could be in for just such a player.

They say:

MANCHESTER UNITED, Tottenham and Chelsea are battling it out for highly-rated Brazilian midfielder Lucas Silva.

The 21 year old has had a breakthrough season with Cruzeiro and is already drawing the attention from a host of big European clubs including Chelsea and Tottenham.

A move to The Premier League could happen this summer with South American football expert Tim Vickery describing him as one of the best passers of the ball in Brazil.

“But he’s probably the best passing midfielder that Brazilian football has produced in the last few years and a real one to watch.”

He apparently has a super passing range and is really quick across the turf. After Brazil’s disastrous World Cup campaign Silva could be one of those promoted to the senior team early. He has only played up to U20 level so far.

Let’s have a look at Lucas Silva in action. Manchester United fans: would you be happy to sign players of this sort of profile or does the club still need to be looking at accomplished players?

Ed Woodward must go!! We missed Kroos and Fabregas, now Vidal!! Are we gonna miss out on Di Maria too? Its pathetic!! Martin Gill made the big signings!! If we want these top players, why are no bids forthcoming!! Sort it out, Ed!!
