Hmm. Not sure about this one. But don’t shoot the messenger.

soccersweep does believe that Manchester United will attempt to attract a stellar forward to the club this summer as well as further bolstering their defence and midfield.

And, on form, there are few more excitng names in world football than Columbia magician James Rodriguez. The Metro reports Saturday morning that Manchester United will attempt to sign the player for £65m (82m Euros) this summer.

Manchester United are set to launch an ambitious £65million (82m Euro) bid for Monaco winger James Rodriguez – after his stunning World Cup performances.

The 22-year-old is one of the hottest properties in world football at the moment, after firing Colombia into the quarter-finals at Brazil 2014, scoring six goals.

Anyone who keeps abreast of the sports news will feel that this idea is potentially at odds with the recent quotes from the player himself. When asked about a potential move to England Rodriguez said:

“The Premier League is maybe a bit physical at this stage. But I am a Monaco player and I’m not thinking about anything like that at the moment. I am now just concentrating on Brazil, which is going to be a wonderful experience for us.”

It’s not exactly a resounding ‘no’ to The Premier League and we all know that players can change their minds very quickly. The other factor of course is that Monaco are not in a postion where they need to sell, being one of the richest clubs in Europe.

But, what is for sure, is that the 22 year old would be a sensation at Manchester United. He’s shown such composure and cutting edge at such a young age that it’s frightening to imagine how good this guy can become. While players like Alexis Sanchez have lit up The World Cup with their pace and guile Rodriguez seems to be on another level altogether. He makes football look so easy and cuts through defences like a chainsaw through jelly.

He is nominally a winger but we could easily imagine him playing up top with Rvp in a 3-5-2 next season, with Wazza just behind in a sort of number ten, Sneijder for Holland, type of role.

It’s a deal that probably won’t happen but Manchester United fans will still get a kick from the idea. And stranger things have most definitely happened.

Let’s see the lad in action. Manchester United fans: any chance?

Soon as the Metro is mentioned there’s more likely a chance that he won’t join rather than the player mentioned will. In this instants this is just sensationalism news reporting once again. The Metro literally links the best performers with the big clubs, it’s tiresome reading and unimaginative. I also think this is a poor site for it’s authors are sometimes bias and it usually doesn’t produce it’s own evaluations of what is going on. Journalism should be about good information and forming an intellectual conclusion to the articles written… The Metro does neither of these things. I am not a writer by trade but I read a substantial amount to have an opinion on this. Unless this website is trying to appeal to the ill-informed belligerent then it’s doing a good job of undermining every other reader.
