Decent

It’s one that many of you Manchester United fans will have heard before. United have been short of really quality anchor men in midfield for years. We have always been big fans of Michael Carrick but, him apart there has been noone of note since Roy Keane was treading the boards of The Theatre of Dreams.

Anderson, Hargreaves, Djemba-Dlemba, Kleberson, Fletcher, Cleverley – each have tried and largely failed to leave a lasting impression on the hub of the team.

Daley Blind is doing a decent job but we feel that Manchester United ultimately need a more dynamic player in there – someone who can drive the team on like Yaya Toure has done for years at City.

Players like that don’t come along very often of course but the latest name to resurface in relation to Manchester United is Freddy Guarin. The Guardian reports:

.. how about Manchester United being in for Fredy Guarín? Could he be the man to resolve United’s midfield woes?

Guarin, 28, is a regular in a Colombia team (54 caps) which is currently housing a golden generation of winners. He’s an unselfish type who works his socks off and certainly has the mobility to help Manchester United close down spaces more quickly. But is he special? Not particularly. You could argue that Manchester United would be better off going for another decent player like Alex Song, who has the added advantage of Premier League experience.

So it’s an underwhelming link and it’s not easy to imagine Guarin becoming the midfield general that United require.

But let’s take a look shall we? Manchester United fans: good enough?

FREDY GUARIN If UTD really have the opportunity to acquire this player, hope that this time UTD will do everything to sign HIM. He is a really bombshell player.
