Manchester United linked with perfect signing

Manchester United obviously need to sign some central midfielders to improve their chances of success at home and abroad.

But unless they’re looking to change from their traditional 4-4-2 formation they will also need to add quality to the wide areas. They do like to chop and change that formation a little, especially away from home in Europe, where they are more likely to go for a 4-5-1 in the biggest games. But, a less rigid 4-4-2 survives.

Nevertheless this formation demands quality in the wide areas, to provide consistent service for the world class strikers that Manchester United possess. Various reports today suggest that The Reds may make a move for Barcelona winger Pedro.

He is accustomed to playing in a 4-3-3 formation and wouldn’t be described as a conventional winger. But what matters is that he’s a brilliant footballer. Profligacy has reigned on the wings at Manchester United for the last few years, as a succession of underachievers have filled the role. This guy would surely put an end to that feeling of disappointment.

At 26 he possibly isn’t getting the amount of game time that he feels he deserves at Barcelona. If he did become available we think that he would be the perfect addition to the Manchester United team. He’s a player who can fit in anywhere along the front line and rarely wastes the ball. He is quick, mobile and intelligent. He also scores a fair few goals – 44 in 145 for Barcelona and 13 in 37 for Spain.

Pedro is exactly the sort of decisive and accurate professional that this Manchester United team needs – a seriously good player who Manchester United should do everything to sign if he does become available.
