Manchester United legend Paul Scholes signs new contract

Many fans of the club were hoping that the legendary Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes would continue in a coaching capacity now that Louis van Gaal has taken the reins.

But he mentioned last week that he thinks that boat has already sailed and that he won’t be coming back to the club in the short-term.

We still believe that he will end up coaching at Manchester United in two or three years time. But, for now, he has signed a deal to be a columnist with The Independent.

Having been such a quiet man in the public arena during his playing career he exploded into life earlier this year with an appearance on Sky Sports, at the behest of Gary Neville, and has admitted that he enjoyed it far more than he thought he might.

The Independent reports:

Paul Scholes: ‘It might upset people… but I say it as it is’

“Gary Neville twisted my arm for the derby game last season. I really enjoyed it. I surprised myself really how much I did. Football is something I know a little about, and it is something that I think I like talking about … it’s something I am looking forward to for the coming season.

So we can look forward to moremerciless no-nonsense opinions over the next season as Scholes will surely put players to the sword on a regular basis.

United fans: do you think that Scholes should have been brought into the club in a coaching role this season and do you see him having a future on the Manchester United staff?

Let’s see some magic from The Ginger Prince
