Manchester United: Is this star still coming in January?

All will be revealed in the next few days of course. But it does appear as if David Moyes blows hot and cold on some players.

Firstly there was the Ander Herrera business. It looked as if the Manchester United manager was going to pull out all the stops to sign the player in the summer and then this winter. But there has been little to no speculation about the Spaniard joining Manchester United during this window.

Then we move onto Fabio Coentrao. Manchester United have just released Fabio Da Silva to Cardiff City leaving them with Alex Buttner and Patrice Evra on the left side of defence. Evra is just a few months shy of 33 and, although he has been a fantastic player for Manchester United, he is starting to wane – particularly with his defensive duties.

Coentrao looked nailed on to join Manchester United in this window. But again the the trail has gone cold over the last couple of weeks. Perhaps David Moyes thinks that he can sign Luke Shaw.

We believe that the young English player would be a better recruit than the Portuguese international. But it does look like a tall order to get the teenager to sign this month.

So will Manchester United recruit Coentrao after all? He’s now 1/7 with Paddy Power to join Manchester United in January. Our instinct tells us that Moyes is waiting until the last minute, to try to complete the Shaw deal, before perhaps going back in for Coentrao.

Let’s take a look at the Portugal international in action. Manchester United fans, if you can’t sign Luke Shaw this January would you need to bring in an alternative left-back, or would you rather wait until the summer for reinforcements?
