Manchester United have sent scouts to midfielder’s last 6 games – report
Manchester United are clearly in need of midfield reinforcements if they’re going to get anywhere near challenging for the title by May.
But the worrying thing from some fans’ perspective is that a lot of the names being linked with Manchester United are defensive midfielders.
With 27.5m spent on Fellaini and Carrick and Phil Jones both more than capable of shielding the back four, common sense would surely suggest that it’s creative midfielders that Manchester United should be after. But what do we know?
The Mirror today reports that Manchester United have been watching a young sporting Lisbon midfielder closely for the last half-dozen games. 21 year old William Carvalho is apparently of great interest to David Moyes. The player recently made his debut for Portugal against Sweden. The Mirror says:
Manchester United are stepping up their interest in Sporting Lisbon and Portugal midfielder William Carvalho.
Premier League champions United, exposed in the middle of the park while slumping to ninth place under new boss David Moyes, have sent scouts to watch 21-year-old in his last SIX games.
The Portuguese club are demanding £20million for the services of a player who has been on their books since the age of eight.
The Angola born player has been out on loan at Cercle Brugge since last year, playing 51 times and scoring 3 goals.
Let’s have a look at him in action. Manchester United fans does the club need another defensive midfielder or should David Moyes be concentrating the transfer kitty on creators?
