Manchester United: Deal Virtually Done – report

In what could be seen, indirectly, as really good news for Manchester United reports today suggest that Alex Buttner is on the verge of leaving the club.

The left-back has failed to settle at Manchester United, despite a few sporadically promising performances, and the suggestion is that he is about to put pen to paper on a deal with Dynamo Moscow. The Express says:

ALEXANDER BUTTNER appears to be leaving Manchester United this summer, with Dynamo Moscow his next destination.

According to Dutch paper Telegraaf, Buttner is expected to put pen to paper on a three year contract with Dynamo.

As you will have guessed the good news is that this surely means that Manchester United will finalise a deal for Luke Shaw before long.

With only Patrice Evra available to the team as a natural left-back you’d imagine that this one would now have to go through.

There has been talk over the last few days that Manchester United will turn their attention to Daley Blind as a cheaper option than Shaw. But, while we can easily imagine Blind joining Manchester United this summer, we think that it would be as well as, rather than instead of Shaw.

Blind can also play in midfield and we wouldn’t completely rule out Shaw ‘doing a Bale’ a moving to the wing, such is his talent and drive. But they would most certainly complement each other on that left flank, which needs serious reinforcement anyway.

Moscow will be getting a decent player but one who hasn’t been able to show the sort of consistency required for Manchester United.

Manchester United fans: is it risky to get rid of Buttner at this stage or does it simply mean that the club is on the cusp of a left-back signing?

There’s no risk if where bringing in a quality replacement. Buttner is just not United level – i wish him all the best though!
