Reports breaking today suggest that the Manchester United revolution continues with the shipping out of some more dead wood.

Quite why Manchester United signed Elbows McGee, Marouane Fellaini, for £27.5m is anyone’s guess. But the most important thing is that he gets moved out before the club becomes accustomed to his mediocrity.

Talksport reckons:

Napoli have agreed a deal with Manchester United to take midfielder Marouane Fellaini on loan for the season, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Express, meanwhile, states:

MANCHESTER UNITED and Napoli have struck a deal for the season-long loan of Belgian flop Marouane Fellaini.

Sometimes the criticism of a player can be unnecessary and excessive. If a player simply doesn’t have the ability to succeed then it seems rather cruel to continually castigate. But the thing which gets us about the lad is that he doesn’t appear to be trying that hard.

You often hear the term ‘you can’t fault him for his effort’. Well, with Fellaini, even the effort that he puts in when he’s wearing the United jersey is questionable – on Saturday he lolloped around in a rather casual manner, as if Manchester United were 6 up. Perhaps Fellaini is now guarding against the injury which would further disrupt his career with the impending move to Napoli.

But with so many injuries to the current Manchester Untied squad you would imagine that Fellaini will be kept on until reinforcements are confirmed.

But the player probably needs the move as much as the club wants it right now. Because he’s had an absolute shocker and you can;t see him fitting into the LvG template of technically adept, fast-paced football.

Manchester United fans: pleased to see the back of him?
