Manchester United: Champions League Draw Latest

Manchester United head into the second half of the season in buoyant mood after winning  their CL group with 2 games to spare and opening up a 6 point lead in The Premier League. But it’s not just the wins that will please Manchester United fans. Despite shipping too many goals, many are beginning to believe that this is the best team and squad that Manchester United have had since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.

With the addition of the sublime Robin Van Persie, and a new found freshness in the midfield, this Manchester United side looks hungry, talented and strong in all areas. Noone will want to face them in the next round of the CL, which is drawn next Thursday (20 Dec). Let’s have a look at the potential opposition.

Porto – 50/1

Porto have, in the past, been a pretty side but still a bit ‘powder puff’. Not so now. They have more steel to go with their obvious skill and won’t lie down easily. However, Manchester United would fancy themselves over two legs.

AC Milan – 50/1

The sleeping giant that is AC Milan. They have a plethora of top players but it’s a fairly old squad and United will have no fear against this lot.

Real Madrid – 10/3

The banana skin. Both teams will want to avoid this draw at all costs. Despite trailing Barca and Atletico in La Liga, this is a better side than the one which was beaten in the semis by Bayern last year. Jose has found a good shape for the side and they can beat anyone on their day.

Shaktar Donetsk – 25/1

A really good side who would get the banana skin vote if it weren’t for Real Madrid. Few teams would fancy a trip to the free flowing Shaktar in Donetsk. But if United do draw them they will be confident of victory.

Valencia – 66/1

Another excellent footballing side, Valencia should not be underestimated. But United would be happy with this draw.

Celtic – 150/1

Not as happy as they would be with this one however! Taking nothing away from Celtic, Manchester United would be overwhelming favourites for this one and would welcome the short journey to Scotland in the midst of a hectic season.

Manchester United are a generous 10/1 with William Hill to win The Champions League

We at http://www.talkoftheterrace.net think their get Celtic, United always get the least fancied team at this stage, but we reckon if they do then Celtic will beat them. Afterall Celtic can do something United cant, beat Barcelona..
