Manchester United about to get rid of some dead wood – report

We don’t like to think of ourselves as a cruel media outlet. We like to keep things objective and not scrutinise individuals too harshly.

But, at the same time, we aren’t going to sit on the fence because that’s just boring. You read soccersweep for the news AND the opinion.

And those who follow us regularly will know that we have one particularly strong opinion. That opinion is that Ashley Young is rubbish. Okay that’s a cruel way of putting it and we promised not to be cruel. Ashley Young is not good enough to play for a top Manchester United side. I think that, after a couple of years at the club, even he is probably aware of this by now.

Time and again we have moaned about his inability to beat a player, his inability to stay wide and get decent crosses in and the general lack of explosiveness and guile that Manchester United fans have become accustomed to from their wingers. He’s a good athlete and I’m sure he’s a lovely lad but he is simply not good enough for Manchester United.

The sooner David Moyes understands this, the sooner Manchester United can return to swashbuckling pre-eminence once more.

Portuguese news outlet A Bola is today speculating that Galatasaray might be interested in taking the England man. A Bola says (via the still, clearly formative, translation tool on Google):

The England international, hired by United to Aston Villa in 2011 for nearly 20 million, has been little used by coach David Moyes, who already went public criticizing the fact that the player constantly simulate faults within the field.

In order to be able to hire Young, Galatasaray will always sell at least one of the foreign players in the squad who has, since the new rules imposed by the Turkish federation impose every club a maximum of 10 players who were not born in Turkey.

Whether the player fancies a swansong out in Turkey remains to be seen. But if he needs a lift to the airport please let him know that we have a car and could be in the Manchester area at a few hours notice.
