Manchester United are jinxed

That really hurt you big meanie

No wonder Sir Alex Ferguson has been so keen to splurge millions on a new, state of the art, medical facility at Manchester United’s Carrington training ground. After losing more man hours through injury than any other Prem team last season, Ferguson will reconvene his squad after the international break to find more notable casualties.

The problem over the last year or so has been in defence and midfield with Jones, Smalling, Vidic, Ferdinand, Rafael, Evans, Fabio, Fletcher, Anderson and others all regularly in the wars. But the current problem could be even more acute.

This time the injuries are in the offensive areas. With games against Wigan, Galatasaray, Liverpool and Newcastle up next RVP and Shinji Kagawa are returning to United with injuries. How serious they are we don’t yet know but, with Wayne Rooney definitely sidelined for that period, Manchester United are looking very thin up front.

It’s one thing patching up the defensive areas, but many pundits like to state that the hardest thing in football is to score a goal. After defeat at Everton in their opening fixture United are already playing catch up to an extent and simply can’t afford another league defeat in their next three games.

On the up side, United do have Chicharito (who scored in the week for Mexico) Danny Welbeck and Angelo Henriquez available immediately. With the first test at home against Wigan you would imagine that United have enough fire power to cope for now. But, even at this stage of the season, getting RVP back quickly could be crucial to Manchester United’s title aspirations.
