Morning update

It really is a bit chicken oriental at Manchester United right now. Not only are we dealing with the speculation regarding the next manager of the club but the back pages also seem to be completely awash with stories about who Manchester United are going to sign this summer.

soccersweep thinks that the most important place to start is with the big man himself. Sir Alex Ferguson spoke to 300 people at a charity lunch in Manchester yesterday and expressed his disappointment for David Moyes at how news broke of his sacking before he was officially dismissed.

But he did stop short of saying that it was the wrong decision by Manchester United to get rid. The Daily Mail said:

Ferguson said he found it ‘upsetting the way it came out’

As someone so entangled in the recruitment process he would obviously want to keep his cards close to his chest and his words to a minimum about the situation. But we think the he will talk more about Moyes in time.

As for the signings the same source reports that Manchester United want Adam Lallana aswell as Luke Shaw from Southampton this summer.

Manchester United are going ahead with plans to table a £55million bid for Southampton stars Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw.

And they are offering another £25m for his Southampton team-mate Lallana, who has forced himself into World Cup contention after emerging as one of the most exciting English midfielders in the Premier League this season.

Shaw is already a magnificent player but we think he’s going to become one of the best in the world. His signing would be a major boost for Manchester United and a statement of intent about their plans for the next few years.

As for Lallana, we think that he’s a really skillful footballer with great vision. But he’s not what Manchester United need right now. United have loads of good technicians in the side but what they lack is pace and power – particularly on the flanks.

For all his qualities Lallana doesn’t possess great amounts of either. Much like Juan Mata he needs pacey players around him to utilise his great vision and playmaking abilities.

Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Manchester United fans – would Lallana be a good signing for the club?
