Manchester United: 3 shock departures?

Chicharito: Perfect back up

Mass forward clear out?

Manchester United will provide great drama off the field over the summer as they shuffle their pack in an attempt to return to the top table of the football world next season.

As well as the expected major arrivals, there is always speculation that big names could leave Manchester United. Two players have been mentioned in this context over the last few days. We assess the likelihood of them leaving.

RvP – The stroppy Dutchman has been rumoured to be unhappy ever since Sir Alex left the club in May. Although RvP has been quick to deny any problems with David Moyes, his body language tells a different story and questions were again asked today about his future at Manchester United.

In truth we think that the ball is very much in Manchester United’s court on this one. His contract expires in 2016 and if Manchester United wish to keep the player then they hold all the aces contractually.

But, there is a growing feeling that Manchester United might work better with RvP. On Saturday they looked more menacing and fluent after RvP’s departure, albeit against a tiring West Brom defence.

Question marks remain about the compatibility of RvP and Rooney – they are both great number 10s and can both lead the line but neither has lightning pace and both like to play in the same areas.

Nevertheless, with Manchester United seriously in need of all the quality that they can muster right now it would represent a major shock if they decided to dispose of his services this summer.

Danny Welbeck The Daily Mail suggested today that Manchester United may deem Welbeck surplus to requirements in the coming months. Few would have him in their strongest Manchester United XI and he does;t have the finishing ability to ever be the main striker at Old Trafford. But he does remain a decent squad member who has a great attitude and can play in several positions.

We feel that Manchester United will hold onto the player for now but next season could be make or break for Welbeck.

Chicharito – ever since David Moyes took over at Manchester United there has been speculation about the future of the Mexican striker. He hasn’t quite lived up to the hype since his brilliant first season at the club and we think that Hernandez will leave Manchester United at the end of this season.

Manchester United fans – will we see a striker clear out this summer?
