Manchester United: £110m spend for success

tactics-board1

Manchester United simply have to spend big in January

Manchester United look a bit hopeless right now. They are playing without coherence and have some big players out. But the most worrying aspect of the slide is that, under David Moyes, Manchester United look rudderless. Moyes looks on desperately as game after game slips away without him seemingly able to have any effect on the team. He resembles a tortured fan whose howls aren’t heard. Worrying times indeed.

We know that it’s not always wise to throw money at a problem – as evidenced by the dreadful and exceedingly expensive acquisition of Marouane Fellaini.

But, if Manchester United don’t buy in this window, they may find themselves shopping in another market with no promise of Champions League football to lure players to the club in the summer – in short, the worst case scenario. Manchester United need to spend over £100m now. They need to flex their muscle before it’s too late. Go out and buy the best while they still can.

Let us remember that money talks. Pretty much any player can be acquired if the money is right. So here goes. The 3 players that will turn Manchester United into the most feared team in the country once more.

Luis Suarez – £50m

Manchester United have RvP and Rooney of course. But the former is struggling this season and has just hit 30. He will surely keep banging the goals in for a while yet but Manchester United generally need more mobility and pace. Surez is the man for that. RvP, Rooney and Suarez clearly have the intelligence to play together and Moyes desperately needs a stellar name. This guy would be mustard at Man U.

Ross Barkley£30m

United clearly got the wrong midfielder from Everton. Barkley is maturing into one of the best players in The Premier League. He’s got the rare ability, amongst Englishmen, to run at defences with the ball at his feet. His passing is sublime. He’s quick, strong and scores goals. What a player he would be for United.

Ilkay Gundogan£30m

Barkley can do any job in the midfield and we think he would combine beautifully with the similarly mobile Gundogan – a constant blur of motion who knits his team together superbly. Great technique, great motor and scores the odd goal.
