Manchester City linked with an absolute gem

Superstar alert

There has been ongoing speculation about the future of Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure since ‘cakegate’.

You do feel as if this is an argument which may take some time to resolve – if at all.

And Manchester City would certainly feel the loss of a player who, we believe, was second only to Luis Suarez in terms of top performers in The Premier League last season.

Toure is the perfect Premier League player who can shield the defence, make tackles in the midfield and motor forward at will to score beautiful goals.

He’s a virtually impossible player to replace but Manchester City could do a lot worse than sign Ross Barkley in his stead.

The Daily Mail reports on Thursday afternoon that Manchester City may look to replace Toure with the brilliant young England man, if the Ivorian player does decide to leave.

They say:

Ross Barkley on Man City’s radar to replace Yaya Toure if Ivorian forces move away from Etihad

We found it painfully frustrating that Barkley didn’t get more playing time at The World Cup. If you’re good enough you are old enough and this guy was easily one of the best players in the squad for Brazil.

We think that wherever he plays he is going to be one of the stars of The Premier League this season and, although we feel that he’s likely to remain his current club for now, Manchester City may make an offer which is simply too good to refuse. But, to do that they would probably need to offload players first, in order to stay within the FIFA FairPlay guidelines.

Let’s have a look at the lad in action. Manchester City fans: can Barkley be as good as Toure?
