Man City now odds on to sign brilliant international

Looking at the Manchester City squad it’s very difficult to know where they could noticeably strengthen this summer.

While they still lack a bit of experience in Europe it’s surely just a matter of time before they start doing the business in The Champions League as well. Their failure in the competition so far has been less to do with the quality of the players and more with a general naivety which can only be conquered with time.

But you would probably have to say that the centre of defence is the weakest area of their squad.

Vincent Kompany is of course a fantastic player – one of the best defenders in Europe. But Manchester City haven’t quite got it right in terms of a partner for the Belgian captain as yet.

Eliaquim Mangala would have been an unbelievably good option but he reportedly wants to move to Chelsea or Manchester United.

The other player who has been strongly linked with the club is Mehdi Benatia. The 27 year old Roma defender only moved to his current club last summer but there have been persistent rumours that Manchester City have made him a serious target.

Manchester City fans may be interested to know that the player is now odds on with bookmaker Bet Victor to join the club this summer – if he does decide to move. At odds of 1/2 they clearly feel that a move is likely.

Benatia is a player who can bring great experience and drive to a Manchester City squad which sometimes still makes basic errors at the back.

It could be could be tough to get him as Roma seem in no mood to sell. But let’s take a look at the lad in action.
