With Manchester City reportedly completing the signing of Porto midfielder Fernando in the last 24 hours one area of the squad now seems completely sorted.

You would expect that Manchester City will leave it at that in terms of midfield reinforcements this summer.

Moving forward, they possibly need to concentrate most on their defence from this point. Although the first choice back five is solid we believe that Manchester City may well buy another centre back to play alongside the peerless Vincent Kompany.

And, with Costel Pantilimon gone, Manchester City will surely need to buy another keeper that this summer – someone to keep Joe Hart on his toes and provide serious competition for that No.1 jersey.

With Petr Cech’s future at Chelsea potentially in doubt we think that Manchester City could do a lot worse than to make a cheeky bid for his services – but he’s not going to want to sit on the bench. Perhaps a more realistic signing, to compete for the number one jersey, would be Asmir Begovic.

He’s been a fantastic player for his club over the last few years and really is one of the most consistently keepers in The Premier League. He’s dependable, strong and athletic – he rarely lets is team down.

Manchester City fans may be interested to hear that their club is favourite to land the player if he does make a move this summer, with bookmaker SkyBet.

Let’s see him in action. Manchester City fans: If you signed Begovic would he have a serious shout as number one keeper next season?

Begovic would be a fantastic signing for us, he would get game time in all cups and more than likely CL. He would give Hart a much needed kick up the ringster while being a more than able replacement
