Reports today suggest that Brendan Rodgers will finally sign his long term target, Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge, when the transfer window opens in January.

Sturridge, who has been largely frozen out at Chelsea this season, has been agitating for a move for some time and Liverpool will answer his call – to the delight of Rodgers. The Liverpool boss is a huge admirer of the player and narrowly missed out on the Sturridge in the summer due to contractual problems.

Sturridge fits neatly into the Rodgers system. He’s quick, nimble, athletic and can play in a variety of positions. While some have questioned the technique of the player, Liverpool will be signing a forward who, at 23, has time on his side.

He already has nearly 100 top flight appearances under his belt with Manchester City, Chelsea and Bolton, with a scoring ratio of about 1 in 4.

The Guardian reports that the fee is likely to be in the region of £12m. So, Liverpool fans, is this the striker that you need at Anfield?

OMG! Where have I heard all this before? Rodgers is not a good assessor of footballers and so another “faulty” player will be assed to his previous selection…

not impressed like other fans with his buys, sturridge is a good player but not a great finisher.. hes not what we need for 12mil…crowds walked out of anfield on sat v villa…it was a disgrace…mr rodgers…might think he has time on his side, but once he loses the fans….hes a goner….but i blame the owners…one for not giving kenny more time. 2 for giving brendon the job..he needs more experience before he came here. and are owners need better advisors… rodgers is a nice guy i am hoping he can do it, he needs backing from owners, but i think he knew the score when he took the job on….i keep saying
in some players age is no barrier remember gary mac?….hunttlar is the one we should of signed……..this season and the start of the next will tell if rodgers is still here…

i am very disturb for hear these type of a bad move that Rodgers want to bring in to Lfc as of this time that we need a good technical finisher and a player who is not selfish which Sturidge is,its a pithy if this is the type of january transfer that Rodgers is about to bring in.

Football is mostly about believing in your self, that is why Torres has not performed, this young man’s skill is fine it just requires some advise which I know Rogers is able too.
Developing is a good thing, at that age is still fine, the guy is quick and this is what we have been lacking and it has always been wasting chances.
    Thanks.

Sturridge may be the best that’s available. At least he’s only 23 and has got time to improve if he’s given a chance. Huntelaar and Llorente have made it clear they won’t move in January and anyway why would they choose to come to Liverpool? We also need a winger to relieve pressure on Sterling – Ince is only a prospect. Feghouli from Valencia is brilliant- fast, skilful, scores with both feet, can play anywhere across the front, is 22 and available for about £8m. Sign him.

We @ http://www.talkoftheterrace.net think Rodgers should go back in for Emile Heskey..
