Liverpool – mega deal on the cards?

Manchester City’s money appears to have been burning a whole in their pocket all summer. But the new Premier League champions are now finding it hard to buy better quality than they already have in their ranks. And, in a problem which is arguably of their own making, when Manchester City come calling the selling club now seems to add another £10 million to the asking price.

Accordingly, Brendan Rodgers has admitted that Liverpool may eventually succumb to overtures from Manchester City for their main man in defence, Daniel Agger. But the Liverpool boss is getting to grips with the top end of the transfer market very quickly. He has told City that they may well sell, but only for a ‘ridiculous’ amount of money. In this respect they hold all the aces.

Liverpool will not want to sell Agger so close to the start of the season. But if they can get around £30m for a solid, if not irreplaceable player, then they may well look to cash in. For that kind of money The Reds can buy another top defender and still have a large portion change for a supplementary splurge before the transfer window closes at the end of August.

Agger, injuries aside, has been an excellent player for Liverpool. He not only does the bread and butter defending well but has the sort of skill that makes him an above average asset in attack also. Losing him to City this late in the day may represent a gamble. But, for that kind of money, is it one worth taking?

Top, top player, one of the best & would have been perfect in the RB’s high possession & passing game. But for some crazy money at the expense of those spoiled Shaikhs, I won’t mind to let him go. 23mn + Adam Johnson is perfect for me .I rate Adam Johnson without his passport, 7mn, for a player failing to for a very ugly English team a head of a (D)Clown(ing).

With that 23mn, we can buy Dempsey (7-8mn) & if possible Shakho (15-16mn). Great business.

No. We do not need to sell Agger.
How can we progress as a club if we sell our best players. Rather than going forwards, that seems to me we’d be going backwards.
