Liverpool: Unbelievably good trio linked
At this point Liverpool are looking like the only team who can take the title out of the clutches of the rampant Manchester City. Of course, things can change quickly in football. But, even without Gerrard and Sturridge there is a coherence and fluidity about Liverpool, that has surpassed the vintage of 2009.
Liverpool didn’t win the title that season of course but, for long periods, they looked like the best football team in the division and pushed Manchester United all the way.
But there is even more about this Liverpool side. Players like Lucas and Henderson are stepping up to the plate, while Luis Suarez continues to defy belief. Even young Raheem is looking dangerous again.
The big question that we have is how much money Liverpool have to spend. So far Brendan Rodgers has done well in the mid-priced market with Sturridge, Coutinho and Sakho all improving the side considerably.
But, if the Liverpool board pushed the boat out, this side could shift up from exciting pretenders to title heavyweights.
The Guardian today suggests a sensational trio in relation to Liverpool.
But since PSG, unlike Chelsea, are keen to avoid hoarding attacking midfielders, they want to first sell Javier Pastore, Ezequiel Lavezzi or Lucas Moura, which is excellent news for Liverpool, as Brendan Rodgers would happily settle for any one of that trio,
PSG have so much cash that they don’t seem to want to spend time assimilating and nurturing new talents. If you don’t perform straight away you are gone mate.
These three players all have amazing talent but haven’t consistently done the business for PSG. Moura has only been there since Christmas, Lavezzi since last summer and Javier Pastore signed in 2011 at the start of the French revolution.
Any of these three would improve Liverpool. They could do with another striker and Lavezzi is quality. Lucas Moura is still raw but has magic in his boots and would offer more quality in the wider areas and something different in tight games. And we believe that Pastori would fit in perfectly as an attacking midfielder.
If any or all of these players are surplus to requirements then Brendan Rodgers may be about to engage in yet another shrewd move on behalf of Liverpool.
