Liverpool – Ideal Suarez replacement identified?

Very exciting talent

While Liverpool have certainly been busy in the transfer market this summer they have still not fully replaced their former star player Luis Suarez. The striker left the club earlier in the summer leaving a huge hole in the squad.

Though Brendan Rodgers has signed Rickie Lambert and Divock Origi, they are unlikely to fill the void left by the departure of Suarez. Lambert is likely to be a squad player while Origi has already been sent back on loan to Lille.

And with Fabio Borini’s future still hanging in the balance, following a proposed move to Sunderland, and the collapse of the deal to bring Remy to Merseyside, Liverpool are looking short in terms of out and out strikers.

It should come as no surprise then that Rodgers is reportedly looking for additional front men. One potential target is 21-year-old Argentina striker Mauro Icardi. According to The Express, Liverpool have made the Inter Milan one of their key transfer targets before the start of The Premier League season.

Brendan Rodgers has to fill the void left by the departure of Luis Suarez and Icardi has emerged as his latest transfer target.

According to reports in Italy, the Anfield club are preparing a £16m bid for the Argentine but Inter chiefs are demanding nearly double that figure.

The club are currently working on a deal to bring the player to Anfield in a move that would cost around £16 million.

However, they face a tough battle to land their man. The reports suggests that other top clubs, such as Chelsea and Manchester City, have also shown interest in Icardi. Inter Milan meanwhile are set to demand a far higher fee believed to be around £28 million, meaning Liverpool could be set for drawn out negotiations.

The youngster is considered one of the most promising players in Italy. He joined Inter Milan after an impressive season with Sampdoria where he netted 11 times in 33 games. Since his move, he has been hit with injury problems but still played 22 times in Serie A, scoring nine goals in total. Nathan Gibson
