Liverpool keen on midfield pass master – report

Superb

Liverpool’s performance against QPR was such a mixed bag that it’s hard to know where to start. Suffice to say that every department of the side needs to tighten up if they are going to be challenging for silverware come the end of the season.

And however well Brendan Rodgers can get his squad playing it seems that more investment is required. The midfield needs long term rejuvenation to offset the eventual loss of the gargantuan Steven Gerrard. We aren’t writing his obituary yet but unless Liverpool plan properly for such a big departure then they will come unstuck, like Manchester United did with Keane and Scholes.

Reports today suggest that Liverpool are keen on a youngster who is making waves in Portugal. The Guardian reports:

Liverpool want Porto’s 17-year-old midfielder Rúben Neves, but they face competition from Juventus.

The teenage creative midfielder has only played 7 times for Porto but such is the competition for young talent these days that this lad has already been singled out for special attention. He’s already got a great range of passing and possesses the requisite football vision to make the grade.

Let’s see him in action. Liverpool fans: is investment in youth the way forward or are some more big hitters required for this team?
