Liverpool bid for Sneijder – reports

wesley-sneijder

Despite a really encouraging second half for The Reds against Manchester United at the weekend, Liverpool are clearly still a work in progress under newish manager Brendan Rodgers. Yet more forwards are needed and Liverpool could also do with some extra class in the midfield. Lucas and Steven Gerrard will continue to anchor the engine room admirably but another really creative attacking midfielder would surely make Liverpool a more coherent and effective proposition going forward.

Most managers recoil when asked if they are planning big buys in the winter window.  But there are a few obvious rich pickings available this January.

It seems increasingly likely that Frank Lampard will be leaving Chelsea and could be persuaded to move sooner rather than later. But we have seen the Gerrard/Lampard axis flounder for a decade at international level and questions remain as to whether they complement or hinder eachother when in tandem. At 34 Lampard is still a top player but Rodgers has prioritised youth in his purchases to date.

But surely Wes Sneijder would improve Liverpool. He’s still only 28 and, with Galatasaray apparently the only seriously interested party at this point, Liverpool would represent an attractive proposition for the brilliant Dutchman. Rumours abound that Sneijder would prefer a move to Liverpool than Istanbul.

It’s no secret that Sneijder is on massive wages at Inter. This seems to be the stumbling block for most interested clubs. If the midfielder wants to resurrect his stagnating career he must take a big pay cut.

But while form can be fleeting, class is permanent and Sneijder has it by the bucket load. I think that he’s still the most complete midfielder in Europe. Few can pass the ball better in the modern game and Sneijder still adds great energy and athleticism to the midfield. In addition to these qualities, we all know that he has a devastating shot on him.

This is a top class player who is in the prime of his career and is available. I know that Brendan Rodgers has a strict plan for Liverpool but surely he must have considered a punt on the Dutchman. Players of this level don’t come along often. He’s a ready made match winner and he would immediately improve Liverpool.

If Liverpool can negotiate a wage that they can afford they should surely enquire about Sneijder.

Buy him, stop dithering! We have let a lot of good players slip through our fingers because of the unnecessary delays. Who doesn’t know this player? Even red nose wants him!

It is the high time for Brendan Rodgers to start buying quality players like sneijder, people that can make things happen and stop buying inferior players like Allen and Borini. We are tired of all these names, we want to be hearing Alonso, Sneijder, kaka, and so on.

Unfortunately, Brendan Rogers think Joe Allen is a much better player than Sneijder. It will be hard for him to get game time with Brendan’s blue-eyed boy in the team.

He’s on at least 150k a week that’s why nobody wants him and thats before any bonuses, some believe 200k a week basic. Gerrard n Suarez aren’t on anywhere near this, if we give it to sneijder we’d have to give it them. Do we want to be shipping out 600k a week on wages before even considering the rest of the squad? I wish people would think before they comment!!! Yeah he’s quality, there’s no doubting it but not worth them wages!

come on fellow kopites…we all want the best players to don the red shirts…but we also know that players in this new era are in for the money…whether we like it or not that’s the truth…and right now LFC do not have that load of money to kinda have that persuasive power to attract star players like sneijder…so right now can we please stop dreaming of getting players like this to play in our team…but instead embrace whoever our manager brings in…

Rodgers its surely about time you took some initiative and repaid some of the faith we the fans have bestown upon you, by buying Wesley and see our team progress. We have shown extreme patience in Joe Allen but clearly he just can’t cut it. Hendo is way better in all aspects of his game, besides the assists to prove it, has shown remarkable improvement with each game he has played all season. But wee desperately need a creative midfielder of Wesley’s standard as we clearly saw against Man U, with Gerard not at his best, we were found seriously lacking. Allen clearly seemed lost nearly cost us two goals all by his self were it not for the excellent Aggar and Skrtel. Be a man BR and just admit it before its too late that he is not 1st team quality. Dont make the same mistakes Kenny made by sticking to players that were not performing all because of pride. BR dont waste time and snap Wesley up before other champions league playing clubs start to take notice. Pleading all the way from Africa is Liverpool’s biggest fan so please take heed BR

Hmmm I think liverpool should sack all the scout, bcos they are not performing there duties and somebody like sneijder is a great player who will make the midfield looks creative. And I believe if it was Demien Comolli, he would have gotten the ideal done from the start of the transfer window opens . So plz BR think deeply and get Sneijder for us. YNWA.

If liverpool wants to win the league or be in the top 4 for champions league, they must buy top and world class players.

if we dont buy sneijder it proves there’s no real ambition in club , after all the sale of lfc top with sneijder’s name on it would pay his wage’s and if we get 4th then champs league windfall and bigger attraction for LFC in top players coming , must buy!!!!!!!!

@dc, so we wud rather pay 3 shitty players that adds no value instead of paying a proven league and cl winner, not to mention a World Cup finalist..

    • Dc

      Jan 15, 2013 at 4:56 pm

What 3 “shitty” players do you mean? No Liverpool player is on the amount of wages wes would demand or do you mean get rid of 3 players to free up wages for wes? That would just make the squad thinner than it already is. Yes we need more quality but adding one world class player at the expense of 3 squad players isn’t going to win us anything. What woul happen is wes got injured, which isn’t beyond the realms of possibility given he’s already dodgy injury record and the physicality of the premier league. One player wins u a game or 2 a squad wins leagues/competitions!

Yes when he can be arsed..Liverpool should go to inter with a bid of £3m and offer to take him off their wagebill and pay him what Gerrard earns with assists, goals, appearances bonuses on top to make up the shortfall to his current wages-no negotiation..take it or leave it!

this was why we lost Dempsey…..why the delay?even if we his wages are high buy him now i mean sneijder……look, there is a great history behind this club and its time to take it where it belongs…..we have been poor over the years because we keep on buying players wh
o aren’t fit to play for us……..spend the money and bring back the glory……..rubbish………..
