Some say that the Europe League lacks appeal. That noone really wants to compete in it. That clubs would rather concentrate on more important competitions. Well I’ll tell you one thing. It beats the living crud out of the international football that is starting again next week.
That’s right guys. I don’t want to be the monger of doom over here but our beautiful club game is being suspended yet again next week for a fortnight of supremely boring international qualifiers. For that reason alone, I will be tuning into the Europa League tonight to suckle on every last minute of the club football teet before the international break – that break which, I find, always brings on a personal crisis of existentialism.
And what better place than The Europa League to have small flutter? There are some real mismatches out there in the early stages of the competition so it should be slightly more straightforward to pick a winning accumulator. Liverpool vs Udinese seems to be the plum tie tonight. Liverpool may rest a few but they have a lot of exciting youngsters who are looking to get games in this competition and I’m enthusiastic about seeing some of them again tonight. I think that Liverpool will win a tight game.
