Liverpool – 3 signings in 2 weeks?

Brendan Rodgers has brought a refreshing hue to Anfield in these last couple of weeks. He offers a completely different approach to Kenny Dalglish, who always kept his cards close to his chest. By comparison, Rodgers likes to be as open as is feasible in his position, which is always nice for the fans of a club.

He has also surprised a few with his transfer activity so far. While many expected high profile signings such as Adam Johnson and Stevan Jovetic, Rodgers has gone about his work with a single minded assurance. He knows who he wants to bring in to the club and he won’t be swayed by others’ opinions on the matter.

It really feels as if this man has a genuine vision for the club and the way he wants this team to play. If he’s not careful he will soon be labelled ‘The Irish Pep’ or ‘Rodgiola’. I’ll do some work on those names and get back to you.

Anyway, young Fabio Borini is in and it’s only a matter of time before Clint Dempsey joins him. The next mooted signing is Swansea midfielder Joe Allen. Again, this may seem like a rather surprising target but the boss has seen this guy close up, and at length, and obviously feels that he can not only do a job, but excel at Liverpool.

The Reds have bought unconvincingly in midfield since the departures of Javier Mascherano and Xabi Alonso. Charlie Adam looks at times like the step up in class is a little too much for him. Jordan Henderson has many questions to answer on the pitch before he can be considered an important part of the long term project. And many Liverpool fans have only recently warmed to Lucas after some rather watery performances at the start of his Anfield career. With Steven Gerrard entering the Autumn of his career Liverpool need a new talisman in the engine room.

Allen will jump at the chance to join the northwest giants and will hope to have a central role in Rodgers Liverpool. At 22 the classy Welsh international has his whole career ahead of him and is already seen as one of the brightest British prospects in the game. Accordingly, Stuart Pearce has selected him for the Olympic squad.

There is a very good chance that he will already be a Liverpool player before the tournament kicks off.

There are gud guys wit a gud talent 2display in liverpool nd if signed, the fans will b delighted. But will be more delighted if adam johnson can com inn in d show

  2. Ekanem says:

Yah, as rightly written i̶̲̥̅̊n̶̲̥̅̊ this site i think Liverpool needs Joe Allen, as captain Fantastic i mean Steve Gerrard is moving towards the end of his carier. Although there is Henderson & the rest but we need a suitable or ready made replacement.

  3. Simon Surrey says:

Let’s hope the whole squad works together so so hard to make Anfield the most feared ground for teams once again! More home wins….less draws…zero home losses and a great away record and we’re on the way!

  4. Kehins says:

Get allen and johnsin i think it’s ok like dat

  5. orville says:

please get gaston raminez @ kiven marrallas

  6. We now need someone with a bit of speed? if these signings are to be correct?, then i do think Theo walcott would be a fantastic signing for us, but! his wage demands could be a little too much for our club?. Maybe Sterlings times arrived? and who knows Suso is also knocking at the first teams changing room door? he would be a bit more used to BR`s way of play than Henderson, Shelvey, or Downing. maybe we have all the talent we need within our own youth? which will save millions in transfer fees? only time will tell. Lfc4Life.

  7. Ekeng says:

Already, the calibre of existing players in Anfield can excel if Rodgers knows his job very well. Joe Allen and Adam Johnson could complete further signing. But Skrtel and Agger should stay.

  8. Orville says:

No raminez seriously I am lOsting to much off Liverpool why Allen Dempsey we say we rebuilding dempsey his 30 yrs &for 10m come on Rogers we want attack raminez&marrallas or affeley

    • Liam says:

      firstly dempsey is 29,
      secondly its rodgers,
      thirdly it’s ramirez
      Fourthy it’s Mirallas
      Finally it’s Afellay

      Please get your facts right

  9. raj seewoodin says:

with average players as the like of borini, allen, dempsey, henderson, adam, reina and with 3 key players who want to leave liverpool,i fear that we will have to fight to stay in the P.L

    • Lee says:

Did you seriously just call Reina (1 of the best goalkeepers in the world nevermind the premiership) a average player?………. Seems to me your clueless lad

    • Lee m says:

Did you seriously just call pepe Reina ( 1 of the best goalkeepers in the world never mind the premiership ) a average player you clueless prat………. The season hasn’t even started yet and your already trying to dig your claws into the manager and team that is not the Liverpool way……. Call yourself a Liverpool fan you sound more like a manc YNWA

    • Scouse Steve says:

You really dont know what your talking about do you? If you think Liverpool will be fighting for PL survival you need to find another sport because you clearly do not understand football… All of these signings are very good players, yes I personally would like to see affellay and Ramirez but it BR’s call and you as a Liverpool fan should back him. YNWA

  10. Mojeed says:

Joe allen & dempsey wil b a great signing for lfc.

  11. RedSikh says:

It’s how the team performs with the new additions!

  12. john smith says:

this is a f****** outrage brendan rodgers is s*** the end

  13. Miles says:

There is no further need to strengthen any area within the Liverpool team. Presently, Liverpool have the best circus act in town, all thanks to the clueless, pathetic and woeful Kenny Dalglish. During his reign, Liverpool spent good money to acquire a donkey (Carroll), a meek lamb (Henderson), a couple of mules (Adam & Downing) to complement their existing pair of jackasses (Carragher & Lucas). It’s hard to fathom what other creatures are available on the market that Rodgers could sign that would add more comic relieve to the team.

  14. mpeksd says:

walcott, ramirez, a johnson then we good to go!!!

  15. Joshua B says:

Seriously are we goin for allen i think is not good enough the likes of rasmus elm,g.ramirez and afellay are better and young not forgetting mcgeady

  16. Llorir
    Jonson subotik ager alaba
    T gerrad lucas alan
    J suarez borini ramires

  17. abu_kop says:

is everyone turning into a f***ing glory hunter?

  18. Fab Fabio says:

Allen is not the solution, I can tell you right now. Paulinho from Corinthians is much a more technical and gifted player, who’d cost around 12 mil. Rodgers must be more creative. Don’t we have any scouts in this club? I mean do we really have to sign ONLY players that the manager have worked with or seen close by for years? That limits our scope and the amount of improvement we can expect. Newcastle got many good players with some creative scouting, why can’t we? I’m tired of this internal market bullsit. We should be attracting the most promising young stars of the world to us. Why is everyone else doing it and not us? Borini looks good, but Dempsey and Allen are not the solution, Afellay seems more like it. I miss Benitez so much during these times. He did commit many mistakes, but at least his heart was at the right place to the direction this club should take and where we should be. I miss that Liverpool! We got so much smaller since then… Thanks, Hodgson and Dalglish. Nice job taking us back 10 years. Let’s hope Rodgers knows what he’s doing.

  19. Olabanji ben says:

You doing a good job men, we need fast track player, thanks was when the job we be a pafect.

  20. Jame Ironmongr says:

Whatever happened to getting behind your team? Call yourself fans when before even a friendly is played you’re damning our new manager, players and our glorious club!!!
This is very much a new era for us and if we are ever going to re-live the glory years of yesteryear then it starts with us the fans. Not only supporting the 11 on the field but the owners, manager, his back room staff and the squad!
If BR Thinks a player he has previously worked with is good enough for his team, who are we the fans to question that…..when we’ve seen nothing of the “new look Liverpool”?
Can’t wait for kick off tomorrow and looking forward to the season ahead!

    YNWA

    • Andrew says:

Well said Jame Ironmongr, too many fans think they know best without giving the manager a chance. Strange thing is they never applied for the job when it was available, I wonder why

  21. dread says:

I dont see it nobody rated allen a month ago now all lfc fans thinking he s the next gerrard ive watched him a few times and he s exactly like henderson he plays the easiest pass never opens teams up and at 15/16 mill i think its another waste of money ….i hope im wrong.

  22. Xnow says:

Allen d new stevie General i luv dat, letz hope johnsen also join him. Surely d tiki-taka style will change d whole dream n solve d problemz.

  23. Ef says:

Look everyone needs to just calm down a little
Rodgers has just come into Liverpool with a new modern classy way of football and moving Liverpool in the right direction and I think Henry has really done well for us and has really finally set us in the right direction.
We are doing a complete rebuild and changing an dated model of how a club should grow and progress.
So what I’m sayin this is gonna take time so we who know about the game need to give the time and support this great team we love, this is Liverpool and we are great and will rise again and for the first time in a long time I really feel we have the right owner and right manager in place our players are all making the right noises about the buss and feel good factor around the club and are
raring to go. There all excited and have a spring in there step.
We have already all the player in place I agree we need one good wingers but the style in which they will play it not a necessity and we have two or three of the kids that can come I and do a job .
It will take time but I believe this is the beginning of the good times
So believe and get behind this great club, ynwa

  24. Lewis says:

Im not being funny or anything here, but some of you are just fucking retarded. Why are you just naming random players, that you think we should sign, that the club arent even interested in. Paulinho? Are you serious? Can someone please tell me when he expressed his desire to join Liverpool, because I dont recall it. Its like me saying “oh forget Joe Allen, lets just sign Xavi instead. Hes a much better passer”. Some of you should really open your eyes and realise that we havent got a huge transfer budget this season and not every single player in the world wants to play for us. Also, before you go judging Joe Allen, I think you should do more research. Allen actually had the 6th highest pass completion rate in Europe with 90.3%. Personally, I think he and Dempsey would be two great signings which would really help the reds with their main problem, goalscoring. Go ahead and make these signings happen Rodgers. YNWA!

  25. Lewis says:

Oh by the way, I completely agree with you Jame Ironmongr. Anyone who is not behind our team and our manager for the new season, is not a true red. If Liverpool has taught me anything over the years, its that you should always have faith. Brendan Rodgers and the team has my full backing, and if your a true supporter, they will have yours too. Im with you Jame Ironmongr. Cannot wait for the new season to see what Rodgers will bring to the club. YNWA!

  26. mr red says:

Cum on guys y u fting ynwa 4life trust the at work an keep andy
