Liverpool: 2 in ,1 to come?

Fair play to Brendan Rodgers. Whether you believe in him or not, he’s got a plan and he’s sticking to it. While many Liverpool fans would have loved to see a high profile signing during the window, Rodgers is intent on building a future for the club, on solid foundations.

Thus, he’s avoided the Sneijders of this world and instead continues to invest in potential. Eyebrows were raised when £12m was spent on Daniel Sturidge, but the 23 year old has been an overwhelming success so far and has added spice, zest and zeal to a strikeforce which was way too reliant on the bewitching talents of Luis Suarez.

20 year old Brazilian midfielder Coutinho is next in line and is reportedly undergoing a medical at Liverpool as I type.

So, you can see what Rodgers is trying to do. But he is obviously not finished there and soccersweep wonders whether he will press on with his attempts to sign Blackpool’s Tom Ince before his fingers get trapped in the closing winter window.

Ince, another young Englishman with huge potential is also being tracked by Reading after some fantastic displays for Blackpool this season. He’s just 20, but the left footer has already scored 21 goals in 60 games for Blackpool, to leave boss Ian Holloway soiling his cacks with excitement on a regular basis.

‘He has been absolutely unplayable for us and has been outstanding in such a short period of time,’

‘Lord knows what he could do with an England shirt on his back now. His end product is absolutely top, top drawer.’

Liverpool don’t play with natural width but Ince can adapt to this formation and offer another outlet, a la Sterling, to this exciting young side.

We wouldn’t be at all surprised if there is some movement on this in the next few days. Liverpool have done good business in January but 3 could well be the magic number for Rodgers in this window.
