Man U

Last minute bid by Manchester United

Manchester United last night failed in an eleventh hour bid for Fulham’s supremely talented Moussa Dembele. The Belgian, who ripped Manchester United to pieces at times at the weekend, was the subject of a late bid from Sir Alex Ferguson. Alas, Tottenham offered more, and have all but sealed the deal.

The Guardian reports today that while Manchester United came in for the player, Tottenham clearly wanted him that much more and that the deal is now pretty much done.

Anyone who saw Dembele’s performance against Manchester United at the weekend would have wanted to sign the player for their club there and then. On a pitch full of superstars, Dembele probably shone the brightest of all. Time and again he picked the ball up and simply glided through allcomers. His pace, dribbling ability and shooting quality, combined with a superb physique make him one of the rarest creatures in the league.

We at soccersweep believe that, despite having done some excellent business this summer, Manchester United will live to regret not signing Moussa Dembele when they had the chance at £15m. If he keeps performing like this, that price tag will seem like peanuts in a year.

Typical penny pinching by United which will ultimately cost a lot more in terms of the loss of an incredibly talented player much needed at United

I dont think man u will regret not bringing in dembele. We hav what it takes to lift the league. All i need is that all man u players should be on deck, commited, focus and in one mind that the league is theirs and so shall it be.

When they had the chance to sign him earlier for 15m,wat were they doing. I bet u it will surely comeback & hunt them this season coz the MF is weak as b’4.

Dembele is a must at United, we were completely outplayed in midfield by Everton and Fulham. Anderson is overweight and underachieved, he has to be sold (if anyone could take him, doubt it!). Dembele, was big, strong, great passer, could go past his man and a very good shot.
Any United fan thinking we can win the league with Cleverley, Scholes, Anderson, Carrick is hugely deluded.
Fergie, stop burying your head in the sand and get a central midfielder, preferably Dembele. And while we’re at it, can we get rid of Phelan and get a coach that knows something about tactics!!

The dude saying we can’t win anything with cleverley and scholes is only lacking football knowledge. If not for injury last season cleverly was the man calling the shots in our mid-field. We should have won that league if not for injury. So dude get a life. We also have kagawa.

Oh please!! we would have, could have, should have , get a grip you didn`t. All teams have injuries to deal with it`s called part of the game. With an old players like yours ( Rio, Scholes, Giggs, Rvp) your bound to have more this year.

Dembele would be nice but not 100% needed. Utd have 6+ midfielders after the central role already. Kagawa, Carrick, Cleverley, Scholes, Giggs, Anderson, (Fletch ?). So nice but not desperate. Good luck Spurs.

All midfielder mentioned are all light weight and are not quick enough to win the second ball which was evident in the last 2 matches, if we want to win the league and challenge for champions league we probably need dembele plus a strootman or toite and we probable need to get rid of Anderson on loan to league that is not as physical as the prem(italy, portugal or spain) for a season to get his fitness back and regular game time, and as for including fletcher in your 6+, do even understand the severity of his illness.

The guy that said we can’t win the league with cleverly, scholes, anderson, carrick is really right,he is the opportunity to pass us the rhapsody of reality.
The answer to united problem is really the belgian talented guy(moussa dembele).and i believe he will prefer united 2 tottenham.make we go for him if truly we need trophy this season

i think if truely NANI will be sold,United should sign PABLO HERNANDEZ from valencia….he is pacy, skillfull on d ball and technically gifted!

It pains me to hear people saying we can’t who trophy with our present midfield.if cleverley and anderson have stayed fit last season, and vidic(who played 10matches,out me which mine was won and one drew) and late adaptation of david de gea to premiership.we would have won last season league.i think all we need now is a bit me luck.UNITED FOREVER

Man utd really need Dembele in the midfield, he’s strong and he is a kind of player UTD need. Midfield problem is the only thing UTD has, so the addition of Dembele is good for that little £15m, if SAF could agree £30m for that useless Lucas Moura, why should he bid £5m for Dembele? It’s bad. Kagawa is good, likewise cleverley, but we need Dembele to be the CM.

So many people on here saying our midfield is weak and we should have bought Dembele,Martinez,Gaitan, this and that whilst we at it why dont we put in Robben on there as well, as we have soo many panters. We dont need anyone if he was that good the so called Dembele why didnt he win with Fulham? We are okay just need to get everyone back fit.

Saf has lost it all to old age. He doesn’t seem to know d weak area of his team, he should better go and sign a cm. Strootman, fellaini, Gaitan, Tiote, Essein, Kaka and so many others are still available. Saf should stop being stingy.

Fulham in fact have 2 players who are called Moussa Dembele ! Perhaps Tottenham are being taken to the cleaners, & Fulham offloading the junior one, & not the 25 year old – is this possible ?

    Aug 29, 2012 at 4:13 pm

I guess Wayne Rooney should start preparing his mind to join d midfield fulltime. Since Sir. Alex could not sign Dembele when he had d opportunity to do dat. Losing Dembele to Spurs is gonna be a big blow for we Uniteds’. Yes! Kagawa is skillful and all that Buh, Dembele is stronger & tough to deal with in d midfield wen it comes to power tussel especially in a game of real men.

SAF is becoming old and should retire as business is passing MAN U and he is unable to cope as it is money that makes this game of football go around as young talent can only take you so far as they will need time…. To reach their potential and not forgetting other bigger clubs scooping in to lure them away?

  29. william

    Aug 29, 2012 at 7:07 pm

Dembele would have been a bargain but penny wise pound foolish tactics prevented ManU from obtaining a young, quality player. It is imperative to obtain a quality defensive midfielder to sit in front of the back four! Such an addition is the missing piece needed to win silver this season.
The need for such a player has been required since Keano’s departure, unfortunately, Hargreaves injuries doomed his being the solution. Why has this important role player not been signed? Only two days remain to correct the problem!

SAF should try and add a strong and skillfull midfielder before the deadline day. I know that the current once just need to train togethe and understand their selves and get back to their fitness and play good football.

Shame we missed out on Dembele. He would have made the difference, I’m sure SAF saw “no value” and in two years time we’ll got to Spurs and offer them £30m for Dimbele!!
Can anyone explain why SAF not bought a strong defensive midfielder? Or are all the 77,000 watching fans all wrong??
