On the surface, things aren’t looking great for Manchester United at the moment. While other teams have recruited some real stars over the summer things are beginning to look at a little desperate in the transfer market for Ed Woodward and company.
But we believe that the picture of doom that is being created is a tad exaggerated.
Because, after all, Manchester United still possess some world-class talent.
Even if they don’t add to their roster of top players this summer, which we still think unlikely, then they can still count on three world-class players to push them forward this season.
We would suggest that Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and David de Gea are undoubtedly world-class talents in the squad.
Below them, you have Luke Shaw and Adnan Januzaj who could definitely fit into that category in a couple of years time.
Yes Manchester United need to add bodies but when you look at the other teams around them, in terms of world-class players, United don’t compare that badly.
Manchester City lead the way with Aguero, Silva, Toure and Kompany.
Chelsea can reference Fabregas, Hazard and possibly Diego Costa, plus a Petr Cech who is on the wane.
In terms of worldies, Liverpool have Gerard (on the wane) and the potential of Sturridge and Sterling who could one day be put in that class.
Arsenal can look to Sanchez, Ramsey and at his best Ozil, who could be called world-class.
So with three out and out worldies, Manchester United don’t lag too far behind the others. They also have a world-class coach in Louis van Gaal so perhaps we should start to be a more optimistic about Manchester United’s chances this season.
They may not be destined for the football wilderness just yet as Paul Scholes said his week.

Juan Mata isn’t world class? It’s funny you don’t mention Mata as a world class player and say Shaw and Januzaj could be world class in a few years. What would that make Juan Mata? A B grade player like Rafael or Fletcher?
