HOLD The BACK Page – World Beater linked with shock Manchester United move today

The madness has kicked off early today for Manchester United. While many fans of the club are hoping for a deal to bring in a top midfielder to Old Trafford, such as Bayern Munich player Tony Kroos, reports this morning suggest that Manchester United could be about to try for a deal for a supreme winger.

We have opined for some time now about how we think Andros Townsend is a born Manchester United player. He’s lightning fast, full of energy, fearless and buccaneering. But, most importantly, he has magic in his boots – something beautiful and unpredictable in his style.

We report that The Metro reports that The Sun reports that Manchester United may try for a deal today:

Manchester United are planning an audacious deadline day swoop for Tottenham winger Andros Townsend, according to the Sun.

Townsend has leapt prominence this season after bursting onto the international scene with England and United boss David Moyes is known to be a fan.

The Manchester United manager was apparently trying to sign the player while at Everton, so says the report.

The idea of Townsend at Manchester United is as frightening for the opposition as it is exciting for the fans.

Yesterday we reported on how Spurs were said to be interested in signing Nani on loan from Manchester United. Could the two deals be linked?

Beyond the initial excitement you would have to ask where the player would fit into this Manchester United side. If Moyes persists with a 4-4-2 then Townsend would surely play out wide on the right. But then how do you fit in Mata and Januzaj? We think that if a deal is done it perhaps means that Mata will play in the centre of the park for Manchester United, next to Micheal Carrick.

But Manchester United can cross that bridge when they get to it. The most important thing is that they continue to sign world-class players so they can compete with the unbelievably good Manchester City.

We shall keep you updated on proceedings. Meantime let’s have a look at the sensational Townsend in action – CLICK FOR TOWNSEND
