Everton line up playmaker – report

This is one which we are sure will draw differing responses from Everton fans.

But what we do know is that Roberto Martinez has a great eye for a player and rarely gets it wrong in the transfer market.

Reports today suggest that Everton may go in for Manchester United’s peripheral midfielder Tom Cleverley. The Metro reckons:

Everton line up move for Manchester United misfit Tom Cleverley

Everton manager Roberto Martinez could be reunited with Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley next season if the England international leaves Old Trafford.

It’s been a case of riches to rags for Cleverley, to a degree, over the last year. He was a regular under Roy Hodgson at the start of his England tenure but his form over the last year has dropped off to a worrying degree.

Nevertheless he is quite a mobile midfielder who likes to keep the ball moving with one and two touch passing.

At 25 years of age he still got lots of room for improvement and perhaps at Everton he could get the sort of coaching that he needs to take him onto the next level – from someone who drifts in and out of the game to the more central figure that his position requires.

Let’s have a look at the lad in action. Everton fans: would this be another cunning signing by Martinez or do you believe that Cleverley will continue to go missing from certain games like he does at Manchester United?

  1. Good players adapt to the positions they’re asked to play in. He obviously is not a good player and this article is just pure speculation anyway. MUST TRY HARDER.
