Everton: Deal in the offing for youngster – report
Roberto Martinez has been at Everton for lease than a year but everything he’s done so far has worked out pretty well. No ‘transitional period’ needed for this guy at Goodison.
He’s also bought well and, on the plus sheet for Martinez, are the performances of James McCarthy, Gareth Barry and Romelu Lukaku in Everton colours.
But one of the new players who hasn’t yet been such a star for the club is reserve goalkeeper Joel Robles.
Brought in from Sevilla, after a stint at Wigan under Martinez, the player seemingly isn’t happy learning his trade as a reserve at Everton – he has played just 8 games for the club this season and, at 23, may feel it’s now or never for serious game time.
The Guardian reckons that Sevilla will be prepared to pay Everton the same amount that they sold him for to return him to the club this summer for a second stint.
Everton reserve keeper Joel Robles, who, try as he might, can’t think of a way to wrestle the No1 shirt off Tim Howard. The Spanish club (Sevilla) are prepared to stump up the £3m gold ones that Everton paid for the 23-year-old last summer.
Given his age, and the fact that he has played at most youth levels for Spain, it’s perhaps understandable that he should want to kick on. But with Tim Howard now 35, you might expect Robes to get more game time next season anyway.
Everton fans Is Robles good enough to take the No.1 jersey from Tim Howard next season or are you happy to let him go?
