Deal Agreed for a True Titan of the Game – report

Manchester United fans have known for some time that one of the kingpins of their greatest period of success has played his last game for the club.

But soccersweep strongly believes that Manchester United have let go of the player too early.

Even if Rio Ferdinand had only played a cameo role in 10 to 15 games for Manchester United next season he would still offer invaluable experience to the new members of the squad.

But Ferdinand wouldn’t just be there as a mentor. Because we believe that he could still do a job for Manchester United AND a very poor England defence at the World Cup this summer.

Even at 35 he’s no slouch and providing he’s got mobile players around him he gives you that composure and first touch which got Manchester United and England out of trouble time and again for well over decade. It’s a truly sad loss for club and country.

Time will tell whether it was a good or bad move for Manchester United but the player is apparently on the verge of a deal to join QPR. The Daily Mail says:

Rio Ferdinand has agreed a deal to sign for newly promoted Queens Park Rangers.

The 35-year-old has been persuaded to take a massive drop in wages after hearing Harry Redknapp’s plans for how he can help the London club on their return to the Premier League.

The deal is expected to be confirmed in the next 24 hours and comes as a huge boost for QPR after winning promotion through the play-offs.

We are sure that Rio will offer QPR great service. He still got plenty in the tank and seems to have rid himself of the niggling injuries that looked as if they would put and end his career a couple of years back. QPR will certainly see that he’s a cut above brother Anton.

Manchester United fans: do you agree that Rio was released too early and not given the proper send off that he so richly deserved?

  1. Dennis says:

No let Rio go to QPR he’s my friend and it’s better to go to less competitive club.
