Chelsea’s ‘top’ transfer target revealed
It’s getting pretty ridiculous now. While Chelsea clearly need a new striker, to finish off the sensational amount of chances created by the midfielders at The Bridge, Jose Mourinho has kept his cards close to his chest about who that might be. Perhaps he doesn’t even know yet.
But this uncertainty has led the media to offer up a carousel of names on a weekly basis. From now until the start of next season this list of top strikers will continue to do the rounds. As we all know, the list of rumoured targets for Chelsea consists of Falcao, Cavani, Martinez, Hulk, Higuain, Dzeko and Costa – basically every top striker on the continent!
Today it is the turn of the latter to grab the Chelsea headlines. The fact that Atletico Madrid reportedly want Porto’s Jackson Martinez means, to some, that they are prepared to sell Costa at the end of the season.
Depsite Atletico having a superb season, they are not yet amongst the European elite, and therefore could still be regarded as a selling club.
We believe that, be it Chelsea or another, Costa will be turning out for another club next season. He would fit well into the Chelsea mould as he has great feet and power plus an unerring finish. He could well be the best finisher of anyone on the shortlist.
What Costa perhaps lacks is pace. That would be the only question mark you might have over him. The Metro last night fanned the flames yet again.
Chelsea eye £27million Diego Costa bid after making him top transfer target
Blues boss Jose Mourinho has told the club’s hierarchy that signing a world class striker should be the priority during the summer transfer window.
And despite links to Luis Suarez, Gonzalo Higuain, Wayne Rooney and Radamel Falcao, Mourinho is believed to have told Chelsea that Costa is the man he wants.
Let’s see the lad in action. Chelsea fans – would Costa be the dream ticket?
