Chelsea: Top 2 Summer Striker Targets Revealed – report

Massive striker targets

Although Chelsea sides under Jose Mourinho are renowned for the solid if unspectacular 2-0 victories, there is something even more workmanlike about his current side. On Saturday they struggled to open up a chipper Everton side who has been impressively tweaked by Roberto Martinez. Everton now have more mobility and speed of passing than they did under David Moyes and this caused Chelsea problems.

Sure, Chelsea dominated the chances but Everton could easily have snuck a draw, if not a win. The problem for Chelsea remains a lack of cutting edge up front. Eto’o is still a decent player but he is a long way shy of the man who frightened the life out of defenders in his days with Barcelona and Inter. Meanwhile, Fernando Torres still shows a good touch but even Mourinho seems to have resigned himself to the fact that Chelsea can offer no cure for the Spaniard’s malaise.

So most of the Chelsea transfer rumours this summer will relate to strikers. Stellar strikers. Because we all know that Chelsea can afford to get one of the very best.

The Daily Mail this morning suggests Chelsea and Tottenham will slug it out for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa, if they can’t snare their top target.

Chelsea are confident of fending off Tottenham’s attempt to steal Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa in the summer, regardless of whether Tim Sherwood stays on as Spurs boss at the end of the season.

…he has been on Chelsea’s radar for some time and Jose Mourinho will offer cash plus Romelu Lukaku, currently on loan to Everton, to secure him if the Blues can’t prise Radamel Falcao from Monaco.

But if Chelsea do secure prime target Falcao, then Costa could sign for Spurs.

Several bits of interesting info here. Firstly, the idea if Lukaku leaving seems strange. He’s been on fire at Everton and you would fancy him to do a job at Chelsea – at least as a squad player.

Secondly, it appears that poor Tottenham are being dictated to by Chelsea’s whims. But Chelsea do obviously remain a bigger draw at present.

We all know Falcao would be s upper player for Chelsea. It remains to be seen whether he will leave France after just one season. But Costa wouldn’t be a bad by either – for Chelsea or Tottenham.

Let’s see him in action.
