Piece by piece Jose Mourinho is turning Chelsea into a well-oiled and frighteningly tough machine. Over the next few years Chelsea may have their pants pulled down by teams with better technique. But they certainly won’t be out fought or out muscled while Jose is around.

On his arrival, Chelsea had a squad full of technique but perhaps without enough physical substance for The Special One. In has come the giant midfielder Nemanja Matic – he already looks like he’s played 200 times for Chelsea, so quick and effective has been his assimilation.

News today suggests that another player is being lined up for the second berth in that defensive midfield. The Metro says that Chelsea their eyes on a player regarded by some as the next Makelele.

Chelsea are eyeing up a summer deal for Marseille midfielder Gianelli Imbula – as Jose Mourinho looks to replace John Obi Mikel.

Imbula was a target for the Blues at the end of last season, but after failing to agree a fee with Guingamp, he eventually signed for Marseille.

He’s played 18 games for Marseille since joining in 2013, scoring once. Imbula is known as a highly athletic and powerful midfielder with a great engine and decent shot on him. He looks to us like he’s tailor made for Mourinho’s Chelsea.

Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Chelsea fans, do you need another defensive midfielder?

Chelsea have been seriously lacking in this area, Lamps could never play holding mid, Ramires can’t keep possesion and Mikel just no! Matic has been fantastic and pair him with Imbula and we will bully that area for years to come and dominate possession freeing up the likes of Hazard, Oscar and Willian.
