Chelsea’s starting XI come February?

Falcao: Poor

Would anyone be surprised if Chelsea snared Falcao in the window?

Jose Mourinho is a canny operator and will keep his cards close to his chest regarding possible signings in the January window. Considering how often he compliments his squad, you could be forgiven for thinking that he will stick with what he has got for the rest of the season – Chelsea aren’t exactly desperate for players.

But you do sense that, in a league where money pretty much grows on trees, standing still can be viewed as going backwards. That is to say, most teams will spend in January and Chelsea won’t want to be left behind. They arguably need a left-back to replace Ashley Cole – Luke Shaw has been touted again of late as a possible target for Chelsea. You would imagine that the blues will also strengthen their striking options at some stage soon. Rumours abound that Radamel Falcao is unhappy at Monaco. You could argue that Chelsea also need another centre back and central midfielder. While not desperate for another player in the engine room just yet, Mourinho may add a centre back in January.

So let’s give you the best case scenario. This is how we think Chelsea could line up come February, if they are to snare their major targets. What a side this would be:

CECH, SHAW, MANGALA, TERRY, IVANOVIC, RAMIRES, LAMPARD, HAZARD, OSCAR, WILLIAN, FALCAO

Those 3 players would cost at least £120 mill. Do you see Chelsea spending that in January, even if the players could be had? Will you re-post this in February?
Seriously, you should not be writing nonsense like this.
