Chelsea: Mourinho wants to come home

It seems that, of all the countries in which Jose Mourinho has worked, England loves him the best. And Jose is a man who needs love.

In his homeland, he took unfancied Porto to an improbable Champions League victory before he came to Chelsea and began his love affair with English football. But it probably wasn’t until he left the UK that he realised quite how suited he was to the Premier League. He loved the passion of the fans, the intensity in the stadia and the physical, fast flowing style of football played on these shores. Most importantly, he found a way to get on with the press. Whilst the media in other countries have disliked his outspoken, enigmatic and sometimes arrogant rhetoric, the English press and public found it increasingly alluring during his time here.

After a spat with Roman Abramovich he cut his ties with Chelsea to the consternation of the fans – to some his departure was tantamount to the death of a Beatle – and then went on to bring unprecedented success to Inter. Now, he looks destined to bring La Liga title to Real Madrid this season despite the fact that his team are only the second best in Spain. In all, it’s an impossibly good CV. But Mourinho has wound people up the wrong way in Spain and Italy and now he wants to come back to his spiritual home. A recent article in The Sunday Times quoted an insider as saying

“José is sick and tired of this situation at Madrid,” …. “It doesn’t matter if he wins this season or not. It’s not about the money.”

“He’s decided to come back to England and he will go in the summer.”

I have no doubt that Jose Mourinho will return to England sooner rather than later. I’d be more surprised if he stayed for another season in Spain. But the intriguing question is where will he go?

Tottenham Hotspur

There has been recent speculation about Mourinho going to Tottenham. It’s just about a big enough club for him and is on an upward trajectory. If Harry Redkanpp, is cleared of the tax charges against him, he looks nailed on to take over the national team and the door would be wide open for Jose. The timing certainly looks very good for such a move.     3/5

Arsenal

Despite much talk of Arsene Wenger being on the wane he should stay for another couple of years at least at Arsenal . He’s too stubborn to leave now. But I wouldn’t completely rule out Jose and Arsene swapping jobs in the summer.  1/5

Manchester United

Jose Mourinho has said many times that he would like to manage Manchester United at some stage. He also has a great relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson, who would be more than happy for him to take over. But not yet. The timing seems wrong here as Fergie wants to stay for another couple for years. Or so he says  2/5

Chelsea

We keep hearing that Chelsea are investing in AVB for the long term but, currently, Chelsea are pale shadow of their former selves. I don’t like clubs hiding behind the notion of their team being in transition. A top manager will oversee the evolution of the club seamlessly, balancing youth and experience on an ongoing basis.

Quite how bad the rift between Mourinho and Abramovich is, few know. But I’m sure that the fans would walk over hot coals to get him back and restore the steel and winning ways to the team that Jose built – a team that has been in decline for too long.  3/5

Liverpool

King Kenny looks as if he will bring at least one trophy home this season, so his departure from Liverpool seems unlikely. A club with the tradition of Liverpool might suit Mourinho however.  1/5

Manchester City

Who could stop them with Jose? Scary. 3/5

England

Terry Venables was sacked from England due to financial irregularities so The FA would probably be unwilling to give the job to Harry if he was found guilty of tax evasion. If anyone could make England successful it’s Mourinho but I feel he may be too young for a job with such infrequent fixtures.  2/5

Wherever Mourinho goes, it’s bound to be interesting

If it is really true that MOURINHO wants to return to England, then Chelsea should be the PLACE for his second stint. A ruthless-playing club like Chelsea would still suit him, after all, he created that pattern of play and should therefore, take it on. AVB to me, is a bunch of rubbish who will only drag Chelsea into the Europa league next season if something is not “magically” addressed. For now, we serious-minded and staunch supporters of CHELSEA, want to appeal to Sir Roman to please bury his ego and settle the rift between him and the Special One to pave the way for the latter’s return.

AVB is not the right coach for chelseafc and this is why 1 He is a bit inexperienced to build a revolution in a club the calibre of beloved Chelsea. 2. His attacking style of play would be lovely for chelsea but how he plays it is obviously not lovely. His 4 3 3 is not working because he has the right players in the wrong areas. Torres is not converting the supposed crosses and Lukaku who might be able is not given the chance to. AVB seems not to trust developing talents with the task. He should clearly have played Cahill and Ivanovic at right back instead of Bosingwa. Cahill has every right to be frustrated about his Chelsea move. he should have signed a fast paced winger and use talented and creative Mata in attacking midfield to deliver Torres the much needed passes for his attacking style to work. Torres is not scoring because Sturridge is too selfish to give him the passes. Sturrige needs to be talked to about this. I don’t doubt AVB.s potential but he needs to be flexible in his formation when they’re not working. Mourhino is the saviour for Chelsea because of his leadership ability charisma massive experience and highly impressive international successes. If there is still a grudge between the billionaire and Mourhino they must settle
