Chelsea: Jose Mourinho to make another attempt to sign Premier League’s main man this summer?

We thought that this one had been put to bed for good. Last summer Chelsea tried in vain to sign Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.

Although hey seemed close at times Chelsea eventually failed as Rooney signed a massive new contract with his club.

But reports in Portugal suggest that Chelsea might not have given up hope on signing the player. A Bola states:

Jose Mourinho has not given up on hiring Wayne Rooney for Chelsea.

After a foiled attempt at the acquisition of the striker in the winter market the Portuguese coach will be preparing a new offensive for the England international after the Brazil World.

With new manager, Louis van Gaal at the helm of Manchester United, it’s easy to understand that there could be some initial concerns for the player.

Since Robin Van Persie joined the club he and Wayne Rooney haven’t always gelled and only one seems to fire at a time. And with the Holland manager so clearly a fan of van Persie Rooney might well be questioning his position at the club moving forward.

Chelsea are on the verge of signing Diego Costa but will surely look for another striker this summer to really reinforce that department of the squad.

But soccersweep believes that Rooney will stay at Manchester United for the rest of his career having signed that huge deal. Whatever LvG’s plans for the club it’s hard to imagine him not having time or space for such a brilliant and adaptable team player.
