Chelsea fans react to Ivanovic Red and United tactics on Twitter

Love and War

This is why we love football right? Controversy never seems far away from the biggest games and with so much at stake it’s understandable that Chelsea wanted to be dealt a fair hand on Sunday.

As it turns out the fortune probably favoured Manchester United as Ivanovic was sent off for two yellows that might well not have been given by another ref – certainly the red seemed harsh. That said, both ‘fouls’ occurred when United were in dangerous positions – one on the break and the other as Di Maria was about to cross.

United probably deserved the draw despite their luck. That said, Chelsea can feel pretty hard done by considering the rough house tactics employed at times by the United defence.

The picture above (courtesy of The Daily Mail via Twitter) shows some good examples. Perhaps the truth is that Chelsea failed to get forward enough and score a second to kill the game off when they were in the ascendency in the second half.

Anyway, much of the debate on Twitter seems to be centred on Chelsea and how they were hard done by. At least they didn’t lose. Here’s what the Twitteratti had to say on the issue.
