Chelsea chasing 2 more big money signings – report

After Chelsea moved in typically decisive manner to bring Cesc Fabregas to the club last week, you might imagine the club will concentrate on the strike force now.

But if reports are to be believed then Chelsea aren’t yet finished with the midfield department this summer.

Having bought a creative midfielder Chelsea might look for a mobile and more defensive player who can keep the ball moving and break up attacks.

One such player who has been linked to the club in latest reports is Barcelona midfielder Alex Song. The 26 year old seems surplus to requirements in Spain after a couple of years when hasn’t really broken into the first team on a regular basis.

Reports in The Guardian today suggest that Chelsea might make a move to bring the player back to London for around £10 million.

The same source also suggests that Chelsea are still interested in Luka Modric despite buying Fabregas last week.

They do have similarities but we could imagine Modric could play in a deeper role as he’s a very mobile and hard-working player who also has a great range of passing.

The Guardian says:

Chelsea are chasing Luka Modric and Alex Song as they bid to reassemble the Premier League midfield of the year from 2010-11.

While we could definitely imagine Song moving to Chelsea we think that they would have a real struggle on their hands trying to sign Luka Modric after the Croatian had, arguably, his best season at Real Madrid in the last campaign.

Let’s have a look at Song in action. Chelsea fans: would this guy be the perfect compliment to Nemanja Matic?

To compliment Diego Costa and in addition to Rooney, Alex Song Chelsea will need Alexis Sanchez. With these combination, Chelsea will be unstoppable.
